For keeping Hammer, zoas, palys, plate and trumpet corals, what parameter should be regularly monitored?

calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, nitrate, and ammonia. i had been only checking the first 3 but my nitrates jumped way up while i wasn't watching the level so now i test the others too. I have a lot of others just in case but rarely test them. I don't worry about pH. if my alk, Ca2+ and Mg2+ are good pH should also be good.

I suggest checking Temperature, PH, Alkalinity, Calcium on a regular basis.

Less regular would be Magnesium and Nitrate.

If there is a problem and you are trying to diagnose then test others like Phosphate, Ammonia, Nitrite, Copper, Silicate, etc. These do not need to be tested regularly but can assist when trying to find the cause of an issue.

Chart the results, this is helpful.
