Excellent article CELACANTHr and excellent photos everyone!!
I've had various types of featherdusters, from the large caribbean to christmas tree worms and coco worms (the latter being the most delicate IMO). But I have never had a featherduster of any type leave it's tube and live. Now, it's only happened twice in my tanks, but both times the duster died. Here's a pic of a featherduster (type unknown) that came on a piece of LR. Had him for years like my other dusters but the hurricanes last year killed him and the others I had.

Faded a bit? LOL If that's faded, I wonder what colorful would be.

Hiya,
My coral beauty scared mine into throwing it's crown and then it left it's tube. I haven't see in since.

Quick note Blennys have a tendency to nip at the tube and even go into the tube itself when the fan is pulled in. I had a bicolor blenny do it, discussed with my lfs and he said that is pretty common.

Thank you for your informative post. I would love to see the next one done on pistol shrimp, these fascinating critters seem to be common in the tanks of those who frequent this board.

On a personal note I have given up on dusters for the time being. My biggest challenge has actually been two things.....the worms are always being disrupted by my very active pistol shrimp and then therefor jump their tubes to relocate and get eaten as a result. I have even tried placing them in nooks of rock but the shrimp will pull them down and into his hole or cover them with sand. I have lost 6 dusters this way.
