iPhone v. droid

I'm surprised this debate hasn't happened yet. I'm a droid guy. While iPhone mania has swept the globe,I think droid is a better product. I have an iPad and an iTouch so I've used both and droid seems to have more geeky, tech gadgets. Droid also gives you a completely customizable looks and screens with the widgets.
So if you've used both and prefer iPhone, why?

I've been an IPhone user and Ipad as well, and have been thinking of making the switch to a droid.....My daughter just made the switch and I've played with it a little, really nothing so far has compelled me to make the switch.....I like the droid, but just not comfortable with it......I guess kinda like breaking old habits......

I can't speak much for the apple platform. But if you like having more options then I think droid is the way to go. I almost made the switch for the wife and I to get I phones last summer. But ended up getting a couple of Galaxy S3's instead when they first came out and we love em. If you like to internet surf they fly when you're in a good coverage zone or for typing on them the screen is perfect size for me. Not too small, but not outrageously large.

I have a galaxy nexus. I love it. The three biggest things I love about it (as opposed to iPhone) is the play store vs the app store. The uniform, ubiquitous micro USB as opposed to the ridiculous crap apple has for charging and connecting as a media device. If I go to a friends house and need a charger, I'm almost guaranteed to find one. But the biggest reason is that having a droid prevents me from being Itunes's b****. I hate ITunes. It is phenomenal to be able to drag and drop music to your device. It is easier to organize, you don't have to worry about syncing iTunes accounts or accidentally deleting all of your music, you can get music directly from another person, it is user friendly (drag and drop), and creating playlists is simpler. I guess the apple products look a tad sleeker, but other than that I've got nothing. I too would like to see the reasons. Also apple maps sucks and droid uses Google (which knows a thing or two about maps). Siri does not seem to understand me as well as the Google voice does. That might just be me though.

I also have the galaxy s3 and I like it. Totally agree with PEZ on the charger thing and the SD card. Apple doesn't let you have the micro SD so your forced to buy more new phones. Likewise, I got my iPad a year ago, which makes it a 2, I believe. The new apps won't play on it because they require IOS5. It seems like the I-stuff isn't designed to last but just to commit the consumer to needing more I-products every year or so.

Agree not a fan of Itunes.......The Siri aspect never appealed to me or any voice deal....Being in a truck most of the time the background noise is a big issue for me.....I do like the Galaxy SIII which my daughter switched to....Makes streaming pics and movies to the tv super sweet!!!!!! Apples Media play or Media share sucks for this......

I am an active user of both platforms, Samsung gs3 for my phone and I have an iPad from work. The android environment blows away apple from a cusomizability standpoint. Apple is also way over priced for what is now substandard hardware on both the phones and iPads. If I didn't have the iPad from work and was going to be spending my own money on a tablet it would absolutely be either a Nexus 7 or 10. Will most likely be buying my wife one of those for her birthday next month.

i have had a few droids and was a hardcore apple hater. i had a rooted droid and a jailbroke ipod and i like the jailbreak more than the root you have more with that being said the stock firmware or OS for them is no comaprison with which has more customizable features where the droid wins but the iphone is so simple to use which is why i believe more people favor it. but i recently upgraded to the iphone 5 and i have no problems with it im kind of neutral on the phones now i do favor droid a lil more though.

So far no one's for iPhone? Then how do they sell so many iPhones?
Generally speaking, people are sheep who will buy what they are told is great, and Apple has a very effective marketing department

1 thing that deterred my decision on a android was no app for apex controller......Just seen an app was released yesterday!!!!!

Droid. I just picked up a couple Galaxy S3's for the wife an I last week during Sprint's "Buy One Get One Free" sale. Couldn't pass that up. I upgraded from an Evo, which is a nice phone but was never useful for 4G. I've never had an iPhone, no intention to either.
Has anyone found a good way to import their itunes to the Galaxy? I've heard it can be done, but I've not done any real research about it.

Download DoubleTwist to your phone and PC and just move your ITunes music over. That's what I did.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that when the I phone first came out it was light years ahead of the competition with their operating software and performance. With the introduction of the Galaxy sIII this year it marked the arrival of a true competitor for the first time. Finally, someone else has an equally capable product on a platform that allows you to do far more things.

That, and they followed the same mantra as Apple and started all their little inventive marketing hypes for this phone. The jury is still out as to whether Samsung stole some of the technologies they use on their various models from Apple.

Matters little to me as a user. I think they've been going back and forth with these suits even before the phone came out. If the big bad bully (apple) can keep their competition tied up with expensive law suits it makes it tougher for the competition to get their products to market and make the big money. I think this is apple's last ditch effort to try and hold on to their crown.

I don't see Apple's market share waning anytime in the near future. The phone market definitely has become more competitive, but Apple still dominates the tablet regime. My daughter has an IPad 4, and I have this ASUS Andorid tablet. Same size, I even have an attachable keyboard. However, my tablet has these consant delays when browsing web sites, sometimes you have to "tap" on the screen multiple times to get it to respond, and there's certain apps that just don't run that efficiently. I rarely have these issues on her IPad.
As far as Android vs. Iphone? I've had both. Each has it's own quirk, each has it's own advantages. Thing with me is I use the device for it's primary intended purpose - to make a phone call. I'm also forced to be a text messaging guru since that's the only way my daughter's will communicate with me when they aren't at home. I carry a Samsung that has a pull-out QWERTY keyboard, simply because my fingers are too fat to tap on that small screen. I also do my banking and some forum responses on the phone. My favorite app is Chess.com. The only other thing I use it for it to check and turn/off my home alarm, and remote start my car if it's too cold in the morning to have to wait for the heater to heat the thing up before I leave for work.

Yep, I was referring to them losing their grip on the "phone" market side of things. Which is kind of crazy since these things aren't phones anymore lol. We've got a couple of kindle fires that run pretty smooth.

Take a look at the Nexus 7 or 10 as compared to an iPad or iPad Mini and unless you already drank the Apply Kool Aid you'll see that they are just as capable, if not more so, than the Apple products, at half the price.

I'll have to take a look at the tech specs. This is actually my first tablet. The wife surprised me with them for Christmas. I guess they are the kindle fire HD's which are thier latest. So far ive not experienced any lag with it, its very fast and picture and video quality is excellent.
Cant see why anyone would need to shell out the extra cash for an apple product these days unless you're a hard core fan.
