I also have a few more questions. I have a size 8 oceanic bio cube and was wondering if i could do this, in the first chamber but as much live rock as i can fit in there and on the second chamber fill it up with cheato algae and scrub off the paint in the back of the bio cube and put a lighting for the cheato and live rock and in the 3rd chamber upgrade the pump and I'm not sure what kind to upgrade it to, so can someone plz tell me a good pump to put in the 3rd chamber. Will my plans for the live rock and cheato algae be good? If not plz tell me a good way to do this. Thanks.

I can't be sure, but there's no real way to know if that light will even work for macro algae. My guess would be no.

It's not really the strength of the light that's a concern; it's the spectrum of light it puts out. I doubt it's intended to grow plants.
For your Biocube questions, you should probably try the nano forum.

I heard that a person on this forum used that light for a size 8 oceanic bio cube and scratched the paint off the back of the tank and he said it works for the live rock and chaeto algae. Ill PM him and ask if everything is going good with that light and chaeto algae and his live rock.

Who thinks whats better, put chaeto algae in the first chamber and put live rock in the second chamber instead of the bio balls or put live rock in the first chamber and put chaeto algae in the second chamber instead of the bio balls? If you have any ideas plz tell me. Can someone plz tell me a good and how strong pump for my size 8 oceanic bio cube?

I think the Nano forum would be able to tell you more about altering the filtration.
Maxi Jets are good, small, powerheads.
I'm not convinced that light will work either.
Mine in under a 250wt 10,000k HQI halide. With good flow it grows like a weed. Can't tell ya what it would do under that type of light.

When I fist got my cheato I used a 9 watt clip pc light. It shrunk in size, aka it started to die. I switched to a 50 watt spot light and it grew like a weed.
No 9 watts is not enough for photosynthsis.

I use a Corallife 10 watt 50/50 bulb and my Chaeto grows great. That bulb you are trying to used prolly won't work.

I have a 14G biocube and I replaced the stock pump with a mini jet 606. I also have an aqua clear 20 powerhead in the display area of the tank for just a bit more flow. The combination of the two seems to work good for me. They offer enough flow to keep things moving without blowing anything over or stirring up the sand. Hope that gives you another option to think about. It's all really a personal choice. Whatever you think looks good is the way to go. Good luck.

Ok. Thanks for the info! I might just get a plastic soap dish and put the cheato algae in there and the soap dish is going to be in the main tank. I don't want to buy a light for the sump. I will just take out the bio balls and replace them with live rock. Thanks again everyone! How big is to big of a maroon clown fish for a size 8 oceanic bio cube?

No maroon clown should ever go in an 8 gallon tank.
