Is Galaxea a good coral?

I have been wanting a anemone for a long time, but have been told that my tank (37 gallons) is to small and the lighting (Coralife Aqualight Double Linear Strip, 4X65 Watt, 48 inch) isn't good enough for one. So I came across the Galaxea and I like it a lot too. The bio says its agressive. and that it must be four inches away from other corals. My main concern is if it will harm my fish by stinging it or what not. I have three damsels currently and will be taking them back to the lfs on monday and will be getting two clownfish.

If the coral was to sting something it would probably be a problem. Most fish are aware of the stinging power of coral and usually stay away. Other coral can be placed, or grown, too close to other coral and one may get damaged or even die.
Just keep it away from other stuff and you'll be fine..
I had a galaxia once and it was a very cool coral. Mine was very delicate and broke off pieces easily when touched.

Oh, okay. I am very interested in the look of these types of coral. Is there any other kinds of coral that aren't harmful that look alike?

Most corals have some sort of ability to protect themselves/fight for territory. It's just generally a good idea to keep coral from touching.

Thanks. I was actually looking at those. I just liked the galaxea better and they had frags here on this website for 9.99. Pretty cheap. Thats the only reason I was looking into it, but I think I am gunna get a hammer if the price is right. haha.

Those galaxia frags will be pretty tiny. Will look nice in a nano but would get lost in a bigger tank.

Yeah I think I am just going to experiment with an anemone. I found a decently priced one at a store. I just need to make sure they are still in stock.

Why do you want to experiment with one if you don't think you have the right light? If you get one, go with a condy which can do well under pcs.

my mandarin goes accross my galaxea all the time, so do my crabs and shrimp. They never seem bothered by it. AS a matter of fact, I also had a good sized branch fall off of my big kenya tree and land right next to the galaxia and attach itself to the rock. It never looks very good, but it also isnt dead. I figured being that close to that thing would kill it quick but its been there for weeks

I have had a condylactis anemone in my 80 gal. tank for about 8 months and I have a couple of T5's and an actinic. It is doing just fine with a couple of pieces of shrimp each week. Condy's are usually inexpensive too. I got mine for 12.99 at my LFS. Otherwise just listen to everyone else's advice.
