I guess if you absolutely insist on having the doors locked, and like you can't sleep without them, that is going on neurotic. Also, I guess maybe where you live, like if you live in an apartment complex, and all a thief has to do is walk down the hallway, trying front doors till he gets an unlocked one, that would be where I'd always have the door locked.
But for me in the house, if I'm already in bed, etc, no way I'm walking all the way to the front door to lock it. But I usually will lock it, 'just cause' on my routine, check the tanks, etc... I've come home to a front door wide open and a garage door wide open. My fault both times, I didn't even shut the front door all the way (wind blew it open), and the garage door had it's end-stop off whack. Nothing was missing, so I feel my 'hood is pretty safe
