I 100 percent think it's ego, peppered with a midlife crisis, God complex, not overlooking the fact that he left his wife, lost part of his fortune and is apparently having money concerns.

Sounds like he needs to do Passion of the Christ 2 since the rumor is that he is in financial trouble. Not sure how he will pull it off though.
Also, there is a clause in his divorce that states the ex can't come out with a tell all book or talk about their marriage to the media. I bet she has a lot of dirt on him.

Personally, my opinion of her is that she is a professional victim. If you look around a bit your will see that she is an aspiring musician, she was taken advantage of and screwed over, then she was screwed over when lingerie pics were used in ways she never authorized. I think she has learned to "work" the system. However, I don't think anyone deserves to be beaten. He could simply walk away and follow legal avenues to enforce his time with his child if in fact that is his concern, instead two idiots are playing this cat and mouse game and there will be no winners as the child will suffer.

I think it is this simple; Mel realized that he got played like a cheap violin in a virtuoso's hands. At that moment the realization of all that he'd thrown away for this glorified pr@stitute made him feel stupid, small and he saw himself for the worm he had been with his (real) wife. It is when he saw how evil he had been and how evil this thing he threw it all away for was that he lost it. No excuse cause he did it, not Ms Stalin the psycho, it was him and he couldn't handle that reality cause he's the great Mel Gibson. I'm not a handsome man, but I've had a few young hotties come on to me and I didn't give them the time of day because my wife and kids ALWAYS come first. Melsie, the ---, jumped in head over heels. I hope he and Ms Stalin both go to jail, they both deserve it.
