Is my Mushroom Polyp - Ricordea Green dying?

My Mushroom Polyp - Ricordea Green was doing just great for well over 7 months now. Getting really huge and eating fine. He just loved frozen brine shrimp!
Then what seemed like over-night he just started to split in two!
Nothing has changed as far as water parameters and all other corals are very healthy.
What the world is going on?
I understand some times, things just die, just wondering is there anything that can be done to save him?
Thanks for any help.....

i don't think it's dying jim. from your description, it sounds like it's "splitting in two".

mushrooms are usually pretty hardy. if it was doin fine and is now splitting id think it is just multiplying. can you see if it has 2 mouths? they usually grow another mouth then split

Thanks for the reply, I really like the big guy.

I checked this morning and one-half of him looked like he was eating again,
but the other half?
I'll just have to keep an eye on him or should I say "them".
Thanks again Mr.X and morval for your input.

I was hoping this was the answer.

FYI: Update, Time line: Jim's Tank.........
Everything is well and doing fine.

I am now a proud poppa of Triplets !

All are fine and eating well.

My Green Ricordea Mushroom Polyp has split into three separate pieces.

Don't you just love this hobby?
and a tip of the hat and thanks for all of the advice..........

I got mine from SWF also, I think they look the same.
Am I missing something?

Don't yours close up when you feed them?
I fed them to show they aren't the same guy, but three different corals.

No, they just seem different to me, mine never close up like that, and your big pic it has tan things all over it...are they tentacles?

It depends on its mood.

Sometimes those tan tentacles blend in and sometimes they pop out more.
The only way I get them to close is to stop my water flow and hand feed them with brine shrimp from a turkey baster.

Of course its hard to keep the peppermint shrimp away at feeding time.

Nice pics! and congrats on the little ones! I hate when my shrimp steels the food from my corals! Now I just feed him first, then my coral. That usually works a little better.

Although ours look alike, I was wondering if yours turns florescent green like mine? Especially during feeding.Yours look more brown or tan.
And if you look at my first pics your tentacles look longer and separate or singular while mine are clumped together.
Anyhow, these guys are cool, huh?
