Is my tank maxed out?

I have a Sedona 37 gallon tank/stand/canopy.
No coral, just fake stuff.
Crushed coral for the base.

Here are my fish as follows:
1 Bluedevil
1 Domino
1 Lemon Damsel
1 3 Stripe Damsel
1 Purple Pigme Angelfish
1 unknown damsel that has a white body & yellow fins & when he's been in the dark he has black stripes through his body.

1 what was sold to me as a Flame Wrasse, but i soon realized it was likely to be a juvenile miniatus grouper, he hasn't really grown much in the few months i've had him & the only time he's been aggressive is when i add a new fish. If they are small enough he will swallow them head first until they are suffocated & then he just spits them out. He never eats them. I figured if he really is a grouper that he would be growing relatively fast & he'd be eating my other fish, but he's actually very calm & doesn't really bother the others. Is it possible he IS a grouper & he just isn't growing because of the size of my tank & maybe he won't be a problem?

Today i'm picking up a Yellow Canary Wrasse to fill the void left from the one i had that died.
My question is, is my tank maxed out on fish?
2nd, what are the 2 fish that i posted pictures of?
Any help would be great.

its not maxed out fish size wise, but damsels are always the most aggressive and territorial fish, so you may not be able to add anything for that reason. Personally, i would get rid of,, well all the fish you have and put in some other non-aggressive smaller fish, like a real flame hawk some gobies,,, maybe a blennie or so.

I would say you are maxed.
Damsels are messy, and relatively heavy on the bioload for their size. So's the grouper.
You also have no LR, and that is going to restrict the ability of your tank to process the ammonia waste.

Actually the damsels i have, they have been pretty good. I've had a couple of them for a few years now. Only the Domino is aggressive, the 3 stripe can be when he wants to but for the most part they all get along well.
& do you guys think that is definitely a miniatus grouper?
& if so, is it possible he will only grow according to my tank size?

Need to know more about your setup. What is filtration like, and what is your water change schedule like?
That definitely is a Miniatus Grouper juvi. Fortunately, tank size doesn't impact the growth of saltwater fish. Only diet and water quality does.

Magnum Bio-pro system, with Bio-wheel pro 30 is my filtration.

& about 20% water change per month. Tank has been running for almost 4 years now.
How large will that grouper get & do i need to get rid of him due to the size of my tank?

Here's the new edition, he's alot smaller then i was expecting him to come in as but oh well. He's barely over an inch long.
BTW, i added some more base rock & put up a black background in the tank, it makes the colors pop out much nicer.

Just a comment on your filter; it will do a perfectly adequate job processing ammonia. Assuming proper filter maintenance & not much increase in bio-load. Good LR will get rid of nitrate, which isn't a big deal in your set-up (only fish, no inverts), and doesn't process ammonia any better than a good canister filter; IMO & IME.

Thanks for the info, i never thought i've had any issues, i mean the tank is 4 years running & i haven't had any issues with ammonia at all.
It's actually a very easily maintained tank, i've loved it. Not to much work, because i don't have a ton of time to dedicate to all the other stuff you can put into saltwater tanks.

I think your grouper is cute. I'm not familiar with them. I do know that I would really get pissed off if one of my fish swallowed another of my fish head first until it died and spit it out. The first time I'd be mad. The second time I would probably find him a new home. I love my yellow golden wrasse. He has alot of personality. I also have a strawberry wrasse. They make an awesome color combination in the tank and are very good community fish.

You have had those fake decorations in there for 4 years? they do not look like they have been in any type of water for that long...I USE TO have some fake stuff...got rid of it all cause it looked awful after a short while, and didn't belong in a sw tank...(my opinion only) They held fishy bad smells too.

I agree with srfisher. I have a canister filter and it is amazing in it's efficiency. I got rid of the sump and turned the skimmer off 3 months ago. No algae and no chemical spikes.

The green plant has been in there for 4 years, but not that 1 large fake piece, it's new. The other stuff is base rock & 2 pieces of live rock, that i don't believe are live anymore.
The green plant i run through the dishwasher everytime i do a good cleaning in the tank. It comes out looking brand new everytime.
The fake coral piece is supposed to be dishwasher safe, you just run it through on just a water cycle is what i was told to do.

Yes i love it as well, of coarse they are half the price now from what i bought it for 4 years ago. But yes, it does its job very well. Just gotta keep them nice & clean & change the charcoal & it will crank.
