Is There One All-In-One Coral Food?

I have frozen mysis, cyclops and prime reef. I did feed the freeze dried cyclopeeze earlier and none of the mouths opened up. I'll try the mysis later. The front sun coral frag is looking worse. A Lot of green instead of orange polyps. Should I remove it if it completely dies?

If I do spot feed corals, I ALWAYS use PE Mysis shrimp. I also use the powdered form of Cyclop-Eeze that is in a can and is suppose to be kept frozen (it might be refrigerated) after it's opened. There's one reason why - if you have a package of brine shrimp or mysis shrimp, look at the nutritional values on the back and then compare it to Cyclop-Eeze. I like the can of freeze dried, just personal preference I guess.
My Tubastraea Corals NEVER come out during the day, regardless of what I feed them.
Edit: There is some "oil" form of Cyclop-Eeze that is out. Is anyone using it or even know a place to get it? It's was on their website last time I checked.............

CandyCane,
I have two kinds of frozen mysis. Hikari and Ocean Nutrition. What is PE? I didn't know you should keep the freeze dried cyclopeeze refrigerated? It doesn't say it on the can. I have the Argent brand.

Mine is the Argent brand also. The little blue and red can with the fish going around it? I just went and checked the can and didn't see a little "keep frozen" on it, but I keep mine frozen.
You can probably google PE Mysis (that's the name of the mysis) and find it. It's a certain form of mysis shrimp that is similar in nutritional value to Cyclop-Eeze. The Protein is like 50% and the fat is over 15% I think.

PE mysis is huge though! You think those suns will eat it??
Mey Met, I got a blasto earlier this month and I wish I had a pic from the day I got it, but the LFS gave it to me cause it was doomed to die (I paid for the healthy one 10 bucks).
Anyway, in the first pic you can see how unhealthy he is, and now, only a few weeks later, how much better he looks.
My point it, as long as there is anything left of an LPS, they are still savable! I saved a black son that was so bad, the LFS owner didn't even think there was any tissue left.
That's my thing. I like to rescue the starved LPS's.

Anyway, here's some pics for fun...
The first pic is not overexposed! It really looked like that!

So much food in his mouth, he can't close it all the way.

And juyst before this post today...

In the fist pic, he has a little bit of food in him, so he's a little puffed up. But I swear, he was all but dead when I got him!
My cameras batteries are about dead, sorry for the blur.
Just meet me half way, and I'll take your suns and fix em up for you.

When I do spot feed, which is VERY rare, I take PE Mysis (the big frozen block), I mix some of it with about 2 tablespoons of tank water, thaw it out and then diced it up; I would make it into almost a paste when I did that.
I usually just feed the ice blocks that I make. I just turn all the filtration off, then when everything has polyped out for the night, I drop a few cubes in the tank. After soaking it in a clean salad dressing bottle for three days in the fridge and then freezing it, the Cyclop-Eeze and Coral Frenzy just float ALL OVER the water column from top to bottom.

Tiz,
You're great and I really appreciate the help. I just tried your procedure with the frozen mysis. Took the sun out and syringe fed all the polyps. Nothing. Not one of them opened. Do you think I am restressing them by taking them out of the tank? They have been in my tank since Wednesday. When is the point of no return? When all the polyps turn green? A lot of questions. Sorry.

Dicing the PE... Awesome.
Met, the point of no return is when there is zero tissue left, as the mouth is the very last part they loose.
Do me a favor. Try it again, this evening around 9. Being that thats it's natural feeding time.
Put it in the top, and just let it sit. If one single piece falls in that's more than enough.
Suncorals, are the only ones that I pretty much routinely removed from the tank to feed, but that's mostly cause I fed every 3 days and didn't have the filtration to keep up.
Do I hafta come take that coral for you. I'll give it back, I swear!

I just like fixin' em.

Oh and as long as, when you take them out of the tank, you are using tank water, then nothing is stressing them. You are only eliminating the currant. Everything else is the same for them.

Tiz,
I'll try again later. The front one though, I think is a goner
I'll try to post some new pics tomorrow. This is what they looked like before they were shipped from puerto rico. The box leaked as the frags cut through the plastic bags. More than half the water was gone.

Holy Crap! I just noticed you lived walking distance from SWF!!
Well, I hope they are savable, they have the potential to be very pretty!
And remember, if just one little piece of cyclop eeze gets in it's mouth, it's very helpful!

How long are you leaving them in the bowl with the food?? I'm thinking at least 10 minutes. Their mouth opening will not be something that happens fast at all.

I am giving them a good 10 minutes. Yeah, I live near SWF.com but guess what? There is no store there. I went through there a few months ago. A few quonset huts (small metal airplane hangars) but there is no sign no nothing. They are there but not open for business to the general public. They just use it as an official mailing address. I had a friend go in there once when he saw a big tank of saltwater. They told him to leave.

Good thing there are a couple of decent stores around PSL.
Like I said before mine were pretty solid and have been through a rough patch or two, and still come out pretty well.

Well, I tried to feed them mysis again with no luck. None of the polyps opened. Getting ready to hit the rack.

They wont. The polys will not come out for a few days. Just let the cyclops sit on them and they will get some.

You just wanna get a bit in it's mouth.
Maybe they got "something" and tomorrow will be easier.

I never seen a coral that didn't eat though.

Which reminds me...

When you put the coral in the bowl, you kinda "place" the food in the polyp right? I mean, you set it so that it's literally sitting there above the mouth, right?
I use the syringe to "set" the food so that when the polyp's mouth opens, it leterally can fall right in.
Usually when they get one piece, their mouth will close for a moment, then reopen for more.

Yes, I am placing the food right in the polyps. They don't seem to react though. I'll try again tonight. I have never seen one polyp open

Put it in, let it sit and set a timer for 10 minutes. At the end of 10 minutes gently stir the water to dislodge the food from the polyp but not so strong it removes what the coral is holding. See if you can see the mouth opening at all.
And also, lemme know if there is any more reaction tonight than last. Just wondering if they got any food at all...
