I found a dead Turbo snail and just curious if this hijacker could be the cause. Is this a whelk.

pontius Active Member Apr 9, 2007 #3 looks like a whelk to me, they will quickly dimolish snails and hermit crabs.
thefallenangel New Member Apr 9, 2007 #5 I thought there is a specific pattern "tatooed" onto the flesh of the Whelk. The siphon on my snail is solid. Is there another way to figure out what this guy is? In truth I should just remove him from the tank regardless.

bang guy Moderator Apr 10, 2007 #7 There are many species of Whelk and yours is definately one of them. Not all Whelks are predatory.
