What do you feed in your DT? Does your water go thru a skimmer before it reached the fuge?
All I know is that when I had a cyano problem in my horse tank, I also had phosphates...I could not cut down feeding cause horses have to eat 2x a day, but I rinse the food extra good now, I also cut back the amount of time my (white) lights are on, and have done about 6 w/c's in the last 2 1/2 weeks

one angel, half of a cube, and the damsels eat it as well as the peppermint shrimp and i have a brittle star to help clean up.
Basically i have a divider in the 30g tank and 2/3 is the caulerpa and 1/3 is where the skimmer is, the water from the dt is dumped into the 1/3 where the skimmer is

Those clumps mixed in the macro is defintly not cyano but red cotton algea. I can't tell for sure about what is on the sand. I also have this growing in my fuge and the only thing that eats it is true mexican turbo snails. There is a large thread on reefcentral about this.

LOL...I read a lot of these threads on disease, different algae growths, etc...just so I can learn more and maybe recognize something if it shows up...and NEVER have come across this cotton algae stuff
