That a good one, I thought I was going to be a harda** when my daughter started dating. But my wife beat me to them, I felt sorry for the guy after that.
Oh buy the way Seth, very cute, don't worry as much as our daughter claims she doesn't, she act just like her mother. They all turn into there mother's, that is why when I was dating I always looked at the mother to see how the daughter will be like when they get older.

Too true however you always have that one who doesn't. My oldest daughter is NOTHING like her Mom and I thank the lord above for that. She is alot like me in about 99.9%.
She even looks like me with long hair, poor kid.

I want my kid to be.... herself. lol!
I understand the whole - "you are like your parents" thing... but I am nothing like my mother or my father. Even though I do share the same profession as them, I have different beliefs and ways of viewing things.
So far since I have been taking care of Emma every evening and every night she has really taken to me really well. She smiles at me when she sees me and I'm the only person that can get her to calm down. Heather, my wife, has been really busy with school. Tomorrow is her absolute last day of her undergrad degree!!! WOOHOO!!

I got my big bones from my dad.
Emma is already pretty well built. She is 23 1/2" and already 12 pounds 6 ounces and she's only 2 months old. She is already holding her head up really well! Jeez, they grow up fast, don't they?

got some real bad news for you my newb father........ Daddy's little girl! Lol..... but it's great and I wouldn't trade it in for the biggest reef tank in the world, or my step daughter for that matter.
We all want our children to be independant thinkers and do'ers, and they will even if we try to change that. we were the same way as kids. We don't have to be "like" our parents but we do pick up some of their traits. My kids love animals and my oldest has my dream dog. My step son and I read up on snakes and buils their cages. Right now we are gearing up for an outside snake cage. The corn snake and baby Red Tailed Boa will love being outside streching out a bit.
Our traits the kids will most likely pick up. I love and respect animals, and they are learning and liking the same. They have learned to research the animals they like and follow up with converation and threads to learn what others do.

I love and respect animals as well. I've had all kinds of pets throughout my life, and I want the same for her. BUT, I also want to teach her that certain animals ARE FOOD. Chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, deer, hogs/pigs etc. etc. were all put on this Earth to provide meat for humans... I believe that people have lost their true roots to nature and I want to teach my kids that it's up to us to grow our own foods and provide for our families by hard work...

BWAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!
WHO SAID ONE NEEDS A COLLEGE EDUCATION!
I spent five years in college and have yet to obtain a degree. In fact, if I switched to general studies I am only two semesters away... All it takes is money.
I believe a college education will pay off.
I intend to go back to college and at least get my general studies degree and then figure out where I want to go from there... I just don't really know what I would want to do for a living yet. I would love to work in the salt world, but I know that isn't going to happen. I'd actually like to write or do art, but I don't want to starve to death. I'd like to teach college biology maybe... Suggestions?

You have to stick with what tickles your fancy, All sound good. Altho all realistic, sounds like alot of excuses. Pick something you love to do and do it, thas all there is to it. You can move later on after the fact to suit your degree and where you have to get the job. Sorry to sound like a parent.
I have a Bachelor in biology, and I still don't know what I wanna do when I grow up.

My computer is acting crazy....Seth you posted and I quote: "I love and respect animals as well. I've had all kinds of pets throughout my life, and I want the same for her. My opinion: Animals were not put on Earth as your food. God gave permission for people to do what they wanted with them as the rulers over all things he created, but they were not created for your meat. In fact it is stated plainly in scripture that pigs, rabbits, squirrels and turtles are NOT food for humans, including lobster, crayfish, clams or snails.
That doesn't mean folks don't eat them, and some folks eat dogs, cats and bats. It's a culture thing. But to claim they were created for your food is a bit much.
Most likely your child will grow up and eat what you eat and like it, and prefer it the way mom prepares it. So if you go hunt your food, she will also understand that food are animals.
LOL...My brothers kids will not eat a real burger, they like McDonalds burger only. The kind we cook on the grill doesn't taste right to them.

Thanks for your opinion, flower.
The Bible and my stomach/taste buds don't always agree.
In my family I am the one that cooks and cleans.

Hi,
LOL..Few follow the scriptures on food...you are not alone by any means. However I found it amusing that you would say they were put here for your food.
The simple secret to good parenting:
Your child will eat what foods you eat, healthy choices are important, and always remember....kids copy what they see you do, not go by what you say. So if you eat good healthy veggies and drink lots of water, juice and milk then your child will as well. If you are a junk food junkie your child will also follow your example.
The little child years are very important, teen years they are pulling away (nowadays preteens already show signs of insanity). But while your little one is small, teach that child by example...what you eat, how you handle adversity, how you treat others....You and your wife are the ones who will mold this little child. Her health, her way of seeing the world, how she will behave in society as an adult is all in your hands. Even the little things count. For example: If you want her to cross the street by the light to be safe...you do so, even when you don't think she's looking.
If you want her to be the type who is active and likes the outdoors, then take the children camping, swimming, make some snowmen and do things besides sit on the computer all day. If you want your children to respect their parents...treat each other with respect. If mom treats dad badly so will the children, including cruel taunts, and hateful remarks. If dad beats mommy, the boys will grow up to beat their wives, and the daughters will grow up and expect to be beaten up.
Children are a mirror of how you act when you don't think anyone sees you...they are watching and learning from you.
