Its time for a light debate of opinions !

There are so many ways to set up a tank. I can't stand to have a light system that isn't totaly surrounded by a canopy. In a dark room I want the beauty of the tank showing with any esquaping lighting. Mnay others may prefer the hang above light that may have a 4 or 6 inch gap over the water and allows alot of light to escape. Nobody's right on this one because its a preference topic. I want to hear other's feedback on what they like !!!!!

I love a canopy as well. I have my tank in my living room. I watch it more than my TV LOL
In a sit down possition, that gap ... bright lights put my eyes out as I look at the tank. It is a little more, no a lot more work to service the tank... but I need the lights inside the tank not putting out my eyes.

I like a canopy. We're paying so darn much for these lights (MHs/T5s), why not keep all the light directed into the tank?

I like my canopys, but being a short person, they do make it hard to work in the tank. Even with that, I vote Canopy

+1 I thought he had too much to drink again. I think it was just an excuse to show off his beautiful tank. I love it.

the tank looks awesome but, looks like joe was changing the oil on the car and had to open the doors on the stand a few times.
i used to have a canopy but my new tank doesnt i prefer not to have it .maybe if it was in the livingroom not down in my mancave.
it definitly looks more like a piece of furniture with the top.
but i have 1200 watts on there and wouldnt want to worry about the heat.

I have 1132 watts of lighting under my can of peas and I don't have any heat problems. I have four cooling fans in the back, two pulling air out and two pulling air in. No chiller. I do have two temp control heatters in the sump but I'm not sure if they ever come on and are needed. I keep my temp at 79 degrees.

I have had both, and the light in the eye is no good, so I put a black out skirt around the hanging light easy in and out by flipping up the skirt. The canopy makes it hard to reach into the tank and pick up thing that have fallen to the bottom, but they sure look nice…

I like canopies, but i am to lazy to build one, seeing as how we are probably going to build a new house (okay in 3-7 years ,,, but still thats alot of efford to build one, my stand was enough work for 3 years, if it goes 7 i may just build one at 4)OR if anyone wants to come and build one for me, i have everything in my garage to do it (literally i build stuff all day i dont want to come home and do it)
