WOW your tank looks great! Love the kelp. I have a strawberry pseudo or they call it an orchid dottyback also. Mine is very agressive too at least with inverts. Hes in a 10 gal right now. I am debating on weather or not to move him to the 32G. The whole reason for the bigger tank in the first place was to upgrade, now im not sure. Keep up the great work and thanks for the kind words on my tank.

alrighty now I can update!
So I finally got my new koralia 1 powerhead and a protein skimmer.
The algae only got worse to the point where I needed to take action.
I did a huge tank scrub down and now the tank looks good.
After the scrub down I pointed the koralia along the back wall or the tank
The protein skimmer is in the second chamber so hopefully it stays cleaner this week.
The kelp is taking over the tank!! it's already half way up the tank!!
I will try to get some pictures of it tomorrow!
I need to trim it.... hopefully I dont ruin it by cutting it!
any thoughts?

you almost cant see the finger coral cuz the kelp is so big
that kelp needs a hair cut!

ok so just a tiny update.
I trimmed the kelp and in two days it was back to the monster size it has grown to.... i bet this is going to be a very annoying plant to have!
The suggestion about putting in a protein skimmer and another powerhead has definately done the trick! NO algae!!!
the only things im working on now is to try and get another clown and reposition my rocks
i need a different rock set up now that the red kelp is a monster it's hard to see anything else... i really have no idea how to design anyhthing
any suggestions at all???

If you want the kelp, well its really not kelp its Rhodophyta, or red algae to stop growing, then shade it. It is light dependant so with however you re-arrange your rock work, trim it up and shade it. It will slow its growth rate down a lot.

well.... the black percula is dead....
I put all the fish into the HT last night and all seemed well
I woke up this morning and the black percula was breathing super heavy and chilling at the bottom of the tank.
I posted on the disease forum but it was too late... he died

so not only did my fish die but the rest have to stay in the HT
on the bright side I rearranged my tank trying to get the wrasse out of the tank and I've never seen my leather finger so happy... he is actually standing upright! everyone seems happier even my zoos
bad day for the fishies

Make sure you do a test for amonia in your HT, and a water change is recomended. In a tank that small if any other fish are in there, they will most certainly be affected by ammonia and the possibilty of having it is high if he died in that small tank. Good Luck, and sorry to hear of you loss.

well things got worse... let me rant for a minute
SO the clown died.... ammonia by the way was 0... just think it was ick
the other fish are symptom free tho but are still going to do hypo
so i had another tank handy and decided to buy my two fish to finish my tank all at once and be done with buying fish... i figured if im going to go through the trouble to hypo one tank doing two wouldnt be much worse
so i was always told blennies and gobies are good to add to my tank so I bought this fish names as a weaver blenny... it was awesome with a lot of personality..... it was a redspotted sandperch that gets up to 8 inches and will eat small fish.... like my wrasse!!!
needless to say shame on me for buying a fish i didn't do a lot of research on and shame on them for telling me it was a tiny blenny and would "do great" in my tank. I was given advice on this site to demand a refund...
The place wouldn't refund my money but give me a fish substitute. After about 25 mins of arguing I was angry and gave in and picked a cute yellow watchman goby (which I had researched). Didn't look underneath the fish before I left because I was flustered.... there was a red sore... my luck
I still had that extra tank set up so I tried to treat him with antibiotics but he died today........
I have really bad luck and am very frustrated with fish stores.....
on the up side my corals couldn;t look happier or healthier!
