IMO JB is one of the few rock drummers with a defining style and recognizable sound.
that doesnt use a double bass pedal! i hate double basses. pansies. no ones style is as raw and thunderous as his. he doesnt even need sticks

Bonham was obviously a big part of what made Zep sound like they do. Plenty of other bands you could change drummers and never notice, but not so with LZ.

Neil Peart is FAR superior!!! i would put Danny Carey and Lars ahead of Bonham on a list...
Gotta agree there.......But Marty Schottenheimer is still a better coach than Tony Dungy.

But Bonham was/is awesome, man did he hit those drums hard!!

EXACTLY! no one plays as hard as he did. he is just so powerful and his sound is impossible to match.

Neil could do what bonham did without breaking a sweat... Lars could stand up and do what he did and Danny Carey could do it blind folded...

No one could play Kashmere like Bohnam.
You want a drummer with diversity? Try Richard John Cyril "Rick" Allen (Def Leppard). Try doing what he does on a set of drums with just one arm...

Bonham was the only one cool enough to have a guy totally dedicated to ride with on the airplane so when he wet his pants the guy would walk in front of him to the bathroom and change clothes so bonham would have clean pants.. and the guy would have to sit in bonhams pee soaked clothes.
You can't beat a rockstar like that :D
Bonham def had his own sound... reason the song "Four Sticks" got it's name is because he used 4 drumsticks. THe best? thats all opinion
Like Pip said in Airheads... "I ain't fartin on no snare drum"

Dream Theaters Mike Portnoy dude is incredible. I played for 15 years and their music is un replicable.
All the drummers mentioned in my book are gods I mean even Phil Collins could wail on the bongos another good drummer is Carter Beauford from Dave Mathews Band. But the list could go on and on....
Check out Pornoy's "MONSTER" Set.....
http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...icial%26sa%3DN
Google some of his sets he has put together and even some music. I mean the guy drum rolls on the bass drums like he is a fat kid eatin' cake.

Yes he is excellent too and all are totally different sounds of music also. Hands down there can never be a "winner" they are all winners.....

Ya know the funny thing about Bonham is they usually had to carry him on stage, plop him down and he would awake and jam. As soon as the gig was done they would carry him off again, passed out cold!!!!!
The guy had the music in his soul....
