Jumpers

Well we had to talk about it, I had my first jumper today, my poor cleaner wrasse, the jack russel was chewing something, she drop it - I grabbed it - thought it was a piece of plastic, but it was my wrasse, poor thing. I did see it when I got home from work, went to the shop to grab my sump, came back and she found it.

No I dont think you should do that you don't know what has gotten on to it outside of the tank... I would just dispose of it if it were me...

I know, i just hate having to move something out of the way every time I need to do something in the tank, are LMB jumpers anyone know.

I think that any fish will be a jumper if they get spooked enough.. I know that I have read that lots of smaller fish tend to be jumper because they get scared and they go to the top of the tank to try and escape. I know its a pain but can save you a lot of money in the long run...

I didn't think mandarins would be jumpers but I found mine ion the floor a couple weeks back.
seems like any fish could end up there.
Ive only had two fish die on me in this hobby and both jumped.
mandarin and a 14"+ engineer goby

I honestly think if my jack russell didn't pick it up I could have saved it, can't be angry with her she thought it was a bug. Anyways maybe i will look into some eggcrate.

Sorry to hear that. I've had two jumper deaths in the last month and I'm super depressed about it as one managed to make my 14G tank crash Monday night :-(
LMB's are jumpers in shallow tanks.

I am just curious how did it make your tank crash
My tank is 24 inches high, think he will be OK, I guess you never know.

Starry Blenny jumped from DT to sump, got stuck in filter overnight. I didn't realize it right away since the blenny always hides and *poof* cloudy water, dead fish and dead inverts :-( Lost my baby mandarin that was already converted to frozen, my last orange spotted filefish, 7 trochus snails and a cleaner shrimp

I have a lmb in my 55 with no top and do not have any issues with jumping.
I had two jump out of my 40G. I blame it on my Coral beauty harassing them, but yeah, they can jump. I keep a similar blenny in my 155 with no top and it's fine, never even goes near the top.

I think I am just lucky that I do not have any fish that harass any others. My fish stick to their own areas and live in harmony. My tank is not overstocked either, and this plays a huge role.
