Hi - I just brought my first two perc clowns from the lfs and am acclimating them nice and slowly. My ? is, my SG is around 1.022 and even though the lfs said theirs was about the same, when I tested it it was more like 1.026. Will this be OK? I know to acclimate them slowly, but will this be too drastic a change? Please advise...

Drip Acclimate for 2 hours and you should be fine.

Well how are they doing? Three hours should have been fine. I don't think that difference would hurt them. Just let them explore and adjust tonight. And check on them tomorrow. Are they eating, swimming around, curious to their new surroundings? These are all good signs.

nooby,,,,what do you mean by drip acclimate for 2 hour? Does mean that i should leave my new fish inside that plastic bag floating on top of my tank for two hours

Drip acclimating means having them in a bucket next to your tank in the water they came in. Then you have a small tube going from your tank to the bucket. The water from your tank slowly drips into the bucket, hense the name "drip acclimate".
You can do this one of two ways, tie a knot in a small tube allowing it to drip, or you can buy a drip acclimation kit for like $6. Oh, and you at times poor water out of the bucket and allow the drip to continue. Soon the water will be almost the same as your tank, however DON'T poor the fish into your tank, net it and then release it.

They are doing really well, thanks for asking! I LOVE these guys, they are so cute and fun to watch! They are my first SW fish in almost 20 yrs... and I can barely tear myself away from the tank. I released them yesterday after almost 4 hours of acclimation and they seemed very at home right off. I fd them right off with some frozen "gourmet" treat and they went right after the food. They stay together all the time, looks like they're cuddeling! We named one Flossy - since they live in our dental office :hilarious. The other one is still name-less.
Anyway, thanks for the interest and all the advice - I'm thrilled with my first two fish. I think I need to wait a few weeks before giving them any tank mates, right? Maybe I can add a cleaner shrimp... my peppermint shrimp wont come out from behind his rock during the day.
OK, I'll take a picture and post it soon!

 Hmmm... that's pretty good! I'll suggest that one and see what our staff have to say. Hard to find positive words to do with dentistry!

The most positive words I have about denistry is how long before you knock me out cold. I don't want to wake up till tomorrow. and I better have some good drugs.

You said it! We started the tank to helkp patients relax - now that the clowns are in, it's great. Before that all you could see was hermits attacking snails and eating them alive! NOT soothing... :hilarious

Sort of a prelude of what was to come. The dentist being the hermit, and my poor teeth being the snail.
Now my teeth hurt just thinking about it.

I'm not talking to you anymore tonight.

OK, here they are! Happy as can be for now. I noticed a big depression in the sand, looks like they were either lying down (?!) or swirling up the sand? Has anyone else seen theirs do this?
So, here they are. I think they're oscellaris - I paid $26 ea. Is that a lot? I was kind of spontaneous about it...
