Kalk drip question

On a thread recomended by Bang, it says when storing kalkwasser to not let air into the container, I understand why. My question is are they talking about the container that is currently driping or another container used for longer term storage?

Well, you don't want to let air into the container that is currently dripping. What do you mean by longer term storage? Is this powdered kalk, or more liquid? If it's more liquid, then you don't want air to mix with it, either.

I would be interested on opinions here also. I currently drip a gal a night from a milk jug but am contemplating a slower 24/7 drip from a larger container, say five gallons, to cut down on time involved mixing up a container nightly.
The literature I have read on the subject states that the longer the solution sits the less effective it is.

Kalk should not be exposed to open air as much as possible. As long as you have a decent seal on it will be fine. I make 5 gallons at a time and drip through my kalk reservoir, which has a lid. RHF on the big board makes 90g of Kalk water at a time. He makes his in a large garbage can with a lid on it. Hardly what I would consider a perfect seal.

You can't. A perfect seal on a container will prevent it from dripping. What you want if for the container to only allow enough air to replace the dripping water, if possible.

That makes more sence, The only way you could go completly air tight is with an IV bag like set up
