Mission Pet Mart ROCKS - long drive for me - and my daughter prefers your tank full of feeder crickets ..... I will be re-planting my freshwater and thinking of going up there to get my plants (the other stores around here just end up dead .... wonder if it is the plant or the planter??)

i will post when we get new plants it- Mosty of them require high light- like PC. VHO ar MH most people dont understand that.- CO2 is also a good thing to have in your tank- but just like SW, a FW planted tank- that looks very nice, requires money, knowledge and time

J21 - please do post as I just upgraded my lights to higher wattage (should go PC but saving cash for salt water). Used to have a nicely planted tank then I had kids :(
thinking of going back and doing a mud / sand mix tank and getting rid of my gravel in the tank .... like well planted tanks ... thinking of just doing the water grasses and some larger plants for my silver dollars to munch on!

aaron - if you do find one in the area that has rock bottom prices on high quality items be sure to post it here!!
Once I get a tank started I would not mind sharing some frags - but gotta get 'em first!

There is a store In Blue Springs named "Fish world" He just opened a little while ago so he doesn't have a whole lot but he is very knowledgable and his prices are rock bottom. Also if he doesn't have it he will order it!
There is a store in Lawrence called Jayhawk Tropical fish. They have good stuff but they are a bit expensive in my opinion. Petworld is in Lawrence as well they have a pretty good selection at decent prices.
Topeka has no good fish stores.

Hey KS reefers - I called and talked to a customer service rep for Southdown- they don't have any this far west unless Home Depot orders some out here :(
They do sell to stores by the truckload this far west - it would be 1120 bags per truck (minimum 1 truck load) and it would be yardright so it woudl be 40 lbs a bag - that is 44,800 pounds of sand - or enough sand to give Arrowhead stadium a 3 in DSB!!
Sorry guys ....
So DINHOUSE if you know that store owner in BLue Springs he might want to order up some sand ..... just a thought - J21Kickster - if you could talk your boss into it .....

I can probly get a hold of a few bags maybe ten or so. (Southdown #50)
HomeDepot will do a store transfer you just have to go about it the right way. I know because I know of a group who got some shipped to K.C. You have to order atleast a pallet or two for starters and you also have to find a person at the store that is willing to do a little work to make it happen. It is a pain and it takes awhile but it is possible. Next thing is that you have to find a store that has enough to spare. You also cannot
let them know that you are going to use it for your aquarium or they will not sell it to you. Southdown is the same exact sand that a very popular aquaruim company packages differently and they sell it for about ten times as much!

Hey Din I don't know about anybody else but I'd like to get my hands on 4 bags of the 50 pound variety. I'd even be willing to travel out to topeka to get it.
Might we be better off seeing if we can get a full pallet in the KC/Topeka area??
Also - silicate dust can aggravate allergies and is a good excuse ....

I would be willing to chip in on some- i dont have my shark pond yet, but i guess i could get 300-400 lbs until then.

I could always use some more for future projects as well. Id be willing to travel to Topeka or KC to pick it up if the cost isnt inflated too much. Maybe a pallet would go fast between all of us.:)
