The Hardiest of all the softies.
No specific foods.
ANY light source will suffice.
Propagates often with NO FRAGGING!
Feel free to post pics of your specimens, too.
Now, without further ado.................
Ready??
I thought if you inject them with boiling water they will just melt...I tried lastnight. Shot it 3times with boiling water and no change..do i got some super aiptasia
Try a product called "Aptasia Control". It's a white jell that is sucked into a plastic syringe, then "fed' to the individual. I have seen them greedily feed and take it in & then actually shudder and die.
I pull my infected rocks out and blast em off w/ superheated (microwaved for about 10 min) RO using the needle from my acrylic bonding escapade. I usually have to scrape them off the rock still, but they are little more than a ball of gue at that point. Hasn't come back yet.
I think the boiling water thing does work in the tank as the water just cools down way too fast.
ps.
I got some new rock in the other day and what do you know? there's a nice specimen on the rock. I'll post a pic of it when I get home. But its in my new tank and I'm kinda playing with it. I took a pair really sharp nail scissors and am trying to trim it back, like a bush seeing if maybe I can 'top' it leaving only the stump.
I had the best luck with those nudi branch critters. I tried many things; peppermint shrimp, kalkwasser paste, hot water, lemon juice, and cursing at them.

Not concerned at this time.
Last time...yes, I borrowed a threadfin butterfly from the LFS and they were gone in under a week. I don't have anything in this tank they can hurt so I just consider them part of the filtration. Everything, except the specific nudibranch that eats aip. as it's only source of food, seems to allow for reinfestation or possibility of getting other corals munched on. If the Berghia Verrucicornis nudibranch is implemented you must consider what to do with him when he runs out of food as they ONLY eat aiptasia. You must also have enough to keep him from starving to death before he can find them...don't get one if you only have a couple stalks.

They love it when people do this...next week ther will be 5-10 more. Keep your eyes peeled. Aiptasia reproduces by every means known to man!
I heard that some lfs actually SELL this stuff.
Funny how cycling with fish is cruel, but torturing anemones is not just acceptable, it's celebtated. :cheer:
Reproduction:
Spans an entire gamut, sexual and asexual. New individuals may form from a piece torn off during locomotion, your mechanical attempts at removing them, by longitudinal or transverse fission.
