Is it alright to put a Kole tang in a 72 gal reef tank ? Or do they need more room ?

It is an excellent choice for a tank of that size relative to other tangs. They are not so much open water swimmers like yellows or hippos. They tend to pick on the rock a lot.

I think the Yellow Eye Kole Tang is one of the most coolest fish there is. They are so funny to watch the way they go about their lifes picking and swimming around. I have named mine Goofy....

I didn't know Yellows and Purples ate Bubble Algae.
IMO a Kole is the only Tang suited for a 4 foot tank. Yellows and Purples can do OK sometimes but the do a LOT better in 6 foot or more.

I agree! I am not sure why they are not all that popular all considering. Mostly people want yellows, blues or purples, etc...and they overlook the yellow eye. But they actually are quite enjoyable fish. Very pretty color when you take the time to appreciate them.

Tell you what they were the work horses of our LFS (apart from the employees :) ). We would constantly be moving rocks around for them to clean off. So I am quite fond of them :D

I believe it was Bob Fenner in his book that mentioned that Zebrasomas could help with bubble algae.
