Here are some pics I took from my trip to Hawaii. They aren't the best, they were just taken with a cheap kmart underwater disposable camera.

Kona side of the Big Island of Hawaii. Best snorkeling spots where Honaunau, Kealakakua Bay and Kahaluu beach park

Nice pictures......
Have you ever been to Hanauma Bay? What are the fish like there?
We are going there in January, this is our yearly getaway but we have not snorkeled there yet.

Wow thsoe are some nice pics!!!!! :joy: I can't wait until my vacation.
I would love to go somewhere else besides Southbeach every year.
But I guess it beats nothing.
Once the little birdies leave the nest the wife and I will go.

My wife has been to Hanauma Bay. She says you have to go out pretty far to the reef to see the colorful fish. More grayish colored fish close in.

I enjoyed the snorkeling at Xcaret park in Cancun much better than Hawaii. I guess it depends on what type of fish you like. Lots of large anglefish in Cancun.

ive been to hanauma bay twice and each time it was so so snorkeling. it is true that you have to go pretty far out. i made my way as far out as possible the second time and saw some amazing fish. TONS of triggers and HUUUUGE sailfin tangs. schools of yellow tangs to it was amazing. i have some really good shots that ill post later...but...it would reccomend checking other local reefs. we have a house about 5 miles away from hanauma bay and the snorkeling is UNBELIEVABLE. truly. our house is based on an old sea turtle hatchery but the turtles are still there! we have rays come in all the time. also, there is a marine conservation lab right down the road that releases all sorts of raised butterflys and tangs on the reef. just amazing snorkeling on oahu. my best friend has gone to konda and said it is crazy too...but i love oahu

hey yea hanauma bay is a good spot but it gets so packed that they have to clse it dwn once a week...if you guys ever come out to oahu, check out a place called lani kai and anywhere up the east side of the island..it is all untouched and beautiful...the west side is nice, but i have been out a couple times and seen one to many tiger sharks out there for my liking...but anyways hope you guys get a chance to make it out here and dive..aloha
