So I finally got around to making the Mini-Refugium of Chaeto for the back middle chamber of my tank, thought I'd share my D.I.Y with you guys....
First of all Thanks to Miami_Reefer, we met up @ the LFS and he hooked it up with the Eggcrate I used.... Thanks man!
All I did was cut out pieces of eggcrate, smooth them out, connect them together w/ Zip Ties, Zip Tie the Submersible LED Tubes to each side and insert chaeto and submerge. Quick and easy.
Results:
[list type=decimal][*]No water temp increase maybe .5 degrees if that, still the same, water/unit does not get hot around it at all....
[*]As you can see the LED's were mounted to the lower portion of the eggcrate apparatus to avoid Light Spillover at night and there is none, complete and total darkness in the tank at night not a shred of light comes through the top into the tank....
Light effectively gets around and covers the whole chamber thanks to the 8 LED's on each side spread apart. Great light coverage
Ran it overnight, everything fine, will report back on how fast/well the chaeto grows.

All in all very happy with the unit, will let you know how well it does with my Chaeto, started with a very small amount smaller than a baseball to see how well it will do...
Will also post some Tank shots soon!
P.S One more mini-mod I need to do to this thing, is put something between the eggcrate and the part where water flows from chamber 2 to 3 (where the pump is) to stop any little pieces of chaeto going into the pump.... What have you guys used? something fine enough to stop it from getting through, but not stopping the flow...

No problem dude. Looks sweet. I'm glad that it came out good. Keep the eggcrate incase nissan, someone else in miami or even myself needs it later on. I haven't checked the growth of my chaeto, I have to see. And about the pieces of chaeto going into the pump chamber....try getting a media bag (a fine one) and cut it up and put it on the side of the eggcrate that faces the pump chamber so it could basically act like a filter. No problem dude. Looks sweet. I'm glad that it came out good. Keep the eggcrate incase nissan, someone else in miami or even myself needs it later on. I haven't checked the growth of my chaeto, I have to see. All thats missing now is a screen of some sort to keep it from going to the 3rd chamber and getting into the pump, I Haven't had it happen yet, but the chaeto ball is small when its bigger it might so I want to get that done soon.....
It was actually pretty easy to do. High quality pocket knife for sanding down the edges ( didn't have sandpaper lol, did it the barbaric way ). scissors and zip ties 20 mins later drop-in fuge that is easy to take out for cleaning and compact and keeps the traditional "all-in-one" system ;P I'm very happy with it, now all I need is explosive chaeto growth

First Chamber is Sponge -> CHemi Pure -> Sponge
2nd chamber: eggcrate chaeto refugium only
3rd chamber: return pump + heater
Going to change up my First chamber a bit, going to do filter floss and get rid of the sponge and I dunno what else yet thinkin..
Yes i got rid of all the balls etc, nitr factory, which is why im also gonna change the sponges out....
