I have a leather coral and it was doing fine till the last couple of days. It won't open up like it has been and doesn't look to healthy. Is there anything I can do? The water is fine. I tested everything. Should I move him higher up in the tank? Thanks!

I have the same problem with my leather about every 3 months. He always seems to recover. The first time it happened I freaked and did water changes, additives, etc. It did no good. Now I let everything carry on and wait. He always recovers to a condition that was even better than before.
I hope this information helps. I do not claim to be an expert, I am just relating my personal experiences. Try the boards at www.reefland.com for some expert advice.

Thanks Ryan,
I looked at him first thing this morning and looks like he is going to open up. So maybe he is alright. I will check on him again when I get home. Thanks for the Website!

As detritus builds up on the skin of a leather it slowly blocks the light. Leathers must shed their "skin" every once in a while to remove the detritus. This is normal and healthy.
