Im thinking that as well.. YOU DO MEAN 14,000K right???... how much do those bulbs run for??? and I would need (2) 250watt in my 75 gallon reef???????
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY PICTURES OF THIS TYPE LIGHTING SO I CAN SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE???

Would A 250W 14,000K Metal Halide Bulb -from Hamilton be a good bulb.... what brand is cheapest??? I dont want to pay more money for something that is just the same!!! thanks!

I just found a site with 250 wat 14,000K MH Bulbs from EVC Tech with a Mogul Base (single) for only like 48$... are EVC bulbs good bulbs???

on a 75g tank with stonies i would put two 150w HQIs running 20k DEs
if you had a chiller, a large ventilated sump, and heat wasnt a concern, i would say two 250w HQIs running 20k DEs
20k DEs on HQI is like a 14k mogul
150w HQI is nearly the same intensity as 250w mogul
250w HQI is nearly the same intensity as 400w mogul
HQI is more expensive to set up though.

OK, well I dont know what that really means, although I do have an idea, I just found a website with MH bulbs, also for aquarium use, I LIKE WHAT I SEE, here is some specs!
I see a 175watt or 250Watt Mogul Base 14,000 or 20,000 Initial Lumens Metal Halide Bulb for only 16.55... with only 6.90 for shipping!!!!!!!!!

MH is HID
lumens is not the same as kelvin
when you see a bulb for 16 bucks and all the other ones out there are 70 or more, that should tell you somethng.

Probably just Industrial/Warehouse bulbs around 3600K...
Good for Algae growth...

it is!!! , but I did send them an email to try to see if they have a 250watt Mogul Base between 10,000K - 20,000K MH light bulb... we will see, and I will post the results later!!!
