better be fast-I personally do not like your approach...when they look like they might lay eggs, move them into a hospital tank with a piece of slate to lay eggs on...then remove adults once eggs are laid...be sure to use a sponge filter-you dont want them sucked up the filter.

yes, only it wasnt slate-it was just a flat piece of rock...but they prefer to lay eggs on slate...

how you know i read that they will breed on clay pots and tile

probably...just make sure it is safe to put in your tank...I have heard of them laying their eggs on pots and stuff...but based on my brother in law's experience...slate works best.
