You will find that NOT a lot of LFS give credits...
You got a response from "customer service"?

Must have REALLY changed from when I last used them. When I set up the new tank I'll have to give them another chance.

my local fish store does not give refund any thing living. plus a 20% "restocking fee" for hard goods.

If the LFS has a refund policy they should make good on the shrimp. 8.4 is fine as long as it is stable.

I just think it make sence. Less inventory and overhead. Let the locals provide your with your product. Mine sold me a snowflake and a hawkfish that I dont want anymore. He is willing to take them back but no credit. Thats $130 worth of fish that he get to sell twice. I know I shouldnt of bought them but you live and learn.

You would think that it makes sense, but most customers want something back. I never had a customer that would just bring things back to me and then buy new stuff at full price. They see the prices on the tanks and think it should be a fair price trade. Some even think that they should get more back because their fish is bigger. The problem is that it is a lot harder to house and sell larger fish.
Back to the original topic, very few stores give refunds for salt animals. I didn't either. Everything was healthy when it left my store. I never sold an animal that was less than up to par. I had people that would wait for fish that I had to help regain their health.

Ok, so maybe i didnt make myself clear enough at first. Im not really mad that they didnt want to give me a refund. What im mad about is that they said they would, and then just because my Ph was at 8.4 they wouldnt

Right, but if they keep their PH at 8.0 then you just introduced the shrimp into 40 times more alkaline water than he was used to. Most inverts are sensitive to change. How long did you drip acclimate him? They were probably willing to give you credit if your water was close to theirs. I have done that. If the water is way off, and the animal was fine when it left, then I don't blame them for not giving you credit.

i think he said an hour on the drip, but i never drip acclimate and i've never lost an invert acclimating the way i do. including shrimp and stars... my mantis tank evaps quite a bit and if i don't add water it can get to an sg of about 39 and i drop it down to 35 with 2 gallons of water in a few seconds and it has no problem.

Trying to use a 8.4 PH as an excuse is nothing but a CS move. Find a new store, life is too short to deal with people like that. If they are offering a guarantee then using a variable like PH to weasel out of it they aren't the type of people I would want to deal with. What do you suppose the PH is in the shipping bag when a critter arrives at either our homes or the LFS? IME Salinity change is a lot more harsh on shrimp critters than PH.
