also I have Lights of america uunder the counter lights I can't seem to get my 24"power lows to work with them they both say 20 watts onthe fixture and bulbs anyone know why?

I have several of the 65 watt LOA lights. I use them to grow Phyto. They are bright but not truly appropriate for a display tank unless you're not going to put them in a canopy. The fixture needs positive ventilation or the ballast will fry. The price is right though.

Bang, what do you mean by "positive ventilation"? the lights come in sealed fixtures, so you've got me a bit confused.
thanks,

I found that if I take them apart and drill holes in the back the ballast will last twice as long. A fan blowing on them would probably accomplish the same goal.

Oh I see, thanks for the clarification. I took mine completely out of the fixture and built a custom reflector that houses all 9 of the ones I have installed. The ballast's are basically completely open so hopefully this won't be a problem :)
