I absolutely agree. I would be feeding live until it is weaned.

Just fed two small ghost shrimps today one at a time. They were gone within a few seconds of hitting the water. Now what to do? THANKS to all.

If your lion ate with no problem and as soon as the food hit the water, what about dropping a piece of krill or small silverside? Just drop the piece and see what your lion does......

I did that and he wouldn't go for it but I left a small piece of krill, and silverside in the tank till evening. I didn't find it so hopefully he ate it. THANK YOU.

Still having trouble with the lion eating frozen, I give him live infrequently, say once a week to ten days. Any thoughts? Thank You.

Try using fishing line, use a silverside or krill and dangle it. If you are floating the ghost shrimp before feeding than try floating krill in a bag to see if you get the same response.

I mean .. they would eat it .. but they'd die soon .. the only reason they'd eat it is because they're oppurtunistic feeders .. which means if there's food in the water .. they'll eat it no matter how full they are .. but occasionally you will get a lion that will stop eating when it's full and you should be thankful .. that eliminates the possibility of overfeeding it .. but no .. don't feed your lion everyday .. stick to 3x a week .. that's how much I feed mine .. and I feed him 2-3 Live Ghost shrimp or Freeze dried krill depending on what he's in the mood for .. any more questions just ask
thanks for the reply for me kaye wow i should get on here more often lol.as for my experiences with lions i have kept them since the beginning of this hobby of 5 yrs and counting.when it comes to dietary research i have done extencive research for all of my fish i keep 2 being volitan lions .as for freeze dried krill its ok as a snack type food for the over endulgers but the process of freeze drying food does remove essential vit and minerals naturally harbored within them frozen variety is always the most benaficial for of marine foods.as for ghost shrimp be advized that these shrimp are of fresh water variety and will not harbor alot of the same minerals needed by marine species for long term health..if you insist on feeding them live foods please check around and find the marine feeder shrimps they look identical to ghost shrimp but grow in sw which will give your fish better nutrients.avoid any fw species as a food source for all marine fish.. the key is not to gorge your fish when feeding daily or alternate daily feeding.. you must give these fish a large variety of foods to ensure that they are getting a full balenced diet of every thing they need.pic 1 is lionel pic 2 is jr i have had jr for 2 1/2 yrs lionel i have had for a little over 2 he was 2 inches at time of purchase

be sure food is fully thawed try soaking it in selcon and the garlic extreme if hes a smaller lion try using mysis shrimp drop thawed in front of a powerhead this will blow it around making the lion hunt it as if it were alive..neither of my lions will bother with anything attached to a feeding stick.like they did when i first got them
all food is drop fed
