Listless Fish Problem

Still fighting this fish and its problems. It does swim around some and has eaten the last 2 nights but at some point during its eating it starts dashing around the tank then lands back between the rock and glass and breathes hard. Still clean fins and skin. I have no clue what its problems are but I am getting weary of the whole thing (but won't give up). I am taking the salinity down again (why? because I have had it with meds that take time and don't work, and being smooth skinned It did not take the copper well I tried a couple weeks ago (took it out within a week).

You know Terry you are right I have overlooked the obvious and should go for the antibiotics. I have been concerned of parasites knowing full well there are no signs of any (tunnel vision). I will do the antibiotics today as the salinity is not that low yet and I can leave it where it is for now. Thanks for the post.

Got ya! Picked up some Maracyn2 today for the anti-biotic. Had some Maracyn but the symptons list pointed me toward the 2 formula. Fish ate on its own tonight and was actually swimming around more then usual so hopefully using your ideas (instead of my stubborn ones) will get it fixed up. Thanks Terry for your help.

Well tonight (and actually last night also) the Puff was swimming around looking pretty goos. Ate both nights as much as I gave it (had to see it with its good eye tho). When I bought it did not realize till later that it is blind in its right eye so I have to feed to its left side so it sees the food. I am working on a new invention that will make me rich a patch for blind fish but I haven't figured how to get it to stay on when they swim hmm. Anyway the Maracyn2 I believe is doing a job on the fish (his breathing is much better and his movement is fine now. Hopefully in a few days I will be able to declare victory again (over what tho I still have no clue). I think Terry's anti-biotic idea was the answer I could not see on my own, so for now I give Terry the credit (if it doesn't work guess who I will blame- just kidding really).

Fish seems to be fine now. Eats well, swims well, breathes normally. I think Terry's idea for the anti biotic did the trick and I thank him for the idea. As of tonight the Maracyn 2 treatments ended on Sunday and I will wait till tomorrow or Wedsnday and start to remove it and then we will see how it does. For now I think this has shown the whole process and hopefully someone else besides me will gain some insight from this long tale of a sick fish.
So for now as my final favorite end to these kinds of post I will say "Scotty beam me up my work here is done"!

Had to report that the S & S is fine now. Eating well, swimming, and spot free. I am going to leave it alone (no tankmates again for now) and let it build itself back up. Now if I only can get my eye patch idea patented lol. (for those of you who did not see that part of the posts above the poor thing is blind in its left eye- got it that way. Have to make sure when I feed that I do it to its right so it sees the food. Out of my brood of 52 fish I have 3 that have eye problems ( a damsel that is missing a eye completely; The S & S; Rock Beauty Angel that went blind in one eye during a pop eye problem) but they all do quite well but thats where the eye patch idea started from.
