He's still growing. I think he's past the critical food days. Now the major concern is keeping the water quaility high while still maintaining a lot of food in the water.

Nope, not at all. Just change some water & feed twice a day. Great thing about live food is that you can put in a days supply without any ill effects.
It's just nerve-racking because the odd are against his survival.
