Live rock quantity

I have been doing freshwater for some years but just starting saltwater. I have read a lot of posts about 1.5 pounds of live rock for every gal. I have 2 penguin biowheel power filters and a powerhead for what will be a 20 gal FOWLR tank.
My question is, will my mechanical filters take care of biofiltration concerns in this small tank and can I have just a few pounds of rock for display or do I really need 30 lbs of live rock to make this work?
Thanks
Paul

In your case, the bio-wheels will be fine. The live rocks just look so much better that even if you don't get 30#, at least get 10-20# for aquascaping. JMO

It's fine to use just a few pounds for decorative purposes in a Fish Only. Water changes will be sufficient to keep Nitrate at a reasonable level. The more rock the healthier your tank will be though IMO.

You guys forgetting something? WELCOME!!!
An external fileter and a few pounds of live rock will work great. Just dont forget to add a powerhead or two for circulation and added oxygen.

Thanks guys for the welcome. ..and thanks for the input. I think I'll try about 10 or 15 #'s of LR. The local shop has it "cured" for 5.99 /lb.
