For sand to be "live", it does not have to contain organisms that you can actually see with the

eye. "Live" refers to the nitrifying bacteria that colonize the sand, not the detrivores that often live in a well-established sand bed. If you want sand that contains these critters, you need to look for "cultured live sand". HTH

Shadow678 is right, the live sand you are thinking of prob isnt what u ordered... live sand (prebagged) is the stuff that just has bacteria in it, not the little critters...

no you or shadow is not right..if you read what I wrote I did not order pre-bagged sand like natures ocean,I ordered floridas premium ls w/ critters as it states on this web site, still waiting to see something live in it and yes you should be able to see it w/o a magnifying glass..very unhappy now..

Peasly - I agree with you on what Live sand is. I'd suggest you wait a while and see what organisms grow from the sand though. After a month you should start to see the worms, pods, etc. that constute live sand. While most of the sand inhabitants are micro-critters some macro-critters are required to move the water around.

Yeah just relax and be patient. I have had my setup for a while and just NOW am I seeing copods, little white worms on my rocks (not sure if they are good or not yet). My rocks are growing feather dusters.
And this morning I just saw a snail. Where the hell did he come from
