Bucket of KFC and little ramp going up it, then grease the insides with the chicken grease so when the lizards are lured inside by the extra crispy goodness they will be trapped inside....now if I could just figure out how to stop eating my bait.
If you can get within arms reach you can usually catch them if you do not look into their eyes. No joke. A lizard will not move unless it thinks it has been spotted. They will remain still in hopes that a preditor does not see them and know that movment will bring attention to them.
If you can watch it out of the corner of your eye and move slowely with your body turned away or to the side it will not be able to tell if you are coming toward it or not. They are intellegent enough to know that eye contact means they have been seen.
Also you can fashion a small noose out of fish line to a long thin branch. This can usually be moved close enough to place around the lizards neck and raised thereby closing the noose and capturing it. Takes practice. A lizard does not usually see a slowly approching branch as a threat. The noose around the neck will not harm the lizard in any way.
Luck.
Might I suggest a bear trap?
On a serious note, I used to have a scaled down bear trap key chain, it was more of a novelty item. On the front of the package it said 'make your very own fur skin coat' next to a picture of an enlarged fly. Im sure that would work to catch a lizard....a small one maybe.
