I have long hair algae in my tank. I currently have 1 clown and 2 pj cardinals. What fish should I buy to take care of this algae? Why is this algae growing in my tank?

Lawnmower blennies eat it...as do tangs
as far as why it is growing...could be excess nutrients, too much light,

most fish that eat it, only eat it when its short, not long.
When i had algae i decided it was due to a heavy bioload with not quite enough filtration. I added a canister filter with kent denitrate and ehiem pro substrate in place of the bioballs and rings. I then watched my hair and red carpet algae vanish and never come back.

Well I have 3 fish, I also have a sump set up with a skimmer. 3 fish in a 75 gallon tank cant be to much bioload.

LOL..Your bio-load is not too much...
The Midas blennie does not list it as an algae eater.. you can get a couple of mexican turbo snails...also you can pull the hair algae out...just make sure you don't let it float away....
also rinse your frozen food and cut down the dry

Then im guessing you dip your net with the food in the tank?
Well since I am doing this for my horsetank, I actually pinch the food out cause I put it in their food dish...the rest..WELL YES, I put the net in the water to get the food out.
This is the ONLY thing I use this one net for!!

turbo snails or any other fish is only 50/50 when it comes to hair algae. the only things that eat it are sea hares. sea hares will eat all of it within a week. after its done, u can always give it to a local reefer who may be having the same issue.

Ill look them up and see what they look like.
They are very ugly

But they do eat hair algae.....Although I had 2 one in each tank and they died
even though I still had hair algae....
I never think of recommending them cause I have nowhere to trade them

I had long hair algea once. It spread quick and grew fast. This is before I stocked my refugium with caulpera. Anyway, I tried seahares twice. I don't understand why the first died within a day. The second lasted about a week but the tank and amount was way too much. Then he disappeared. I guess I'm not too good with seahares. I went out and got 20 mexican turbo snails. ( 125 gallon with 290 lbs of rock. ) My hair algea problems was cured real quick. They ate it like it they have never eaten before. I have since found many of the snails new homes and have to supplement the snails left with algea sheets. Since adding caulpera to my refugium I haven't seen a sign of algea in months.
