For those hobbyists that like some movement in their reef tanks I would like to suggest a Duncan coral. I picked up this stalking frag yesterday. Their waving tentacles give some nice movement to the tank. Do your homework in keeping them; they may be a nice addition to YOUR tank.

I do when they open....they are glued onto a rock that can not be moved, BUT not in a high flow area

now if i can get rid of the hair algae i have been fighting for a year i would be happy.
I am sure you already know this but let’s throw this around. Hair algae need nitrates and phosphates to grow. Hobbyists test for these and cannot understand why they test zero for both and still have the algae problem. Answer is simple the hair algae’s locking up the nitrates and phosphates before you test. Have you tested your water for both before you add it to your tank? also have you thought about vodka dosing .
try directing more flow over them

i dont spot feed mine at all.they just grow like crazy.
hey joe,i have a bio sheres reactor that is supposed to eat up phoshates and nitrates.also in my sump i have macrow which has grown big time over the last few months.how can this algae grow in the dt so fast with everything else i have going.oh and i added my 600 gallon rated skimmer to the tank a month ago.my bulbs are pretty new also.i am out of ideas.i never read up on vodka dosing .what exactly are the benifits?i sure dont need help with the health of the corals.its just the algae or my tank would be perfect.oh yea i get like no algae on my glass and the critters keep my sandbed perfect.just the stuff on the rocks.
well i am willing to try it.but seems to me with all the stuff i got running to eat up the nutrients i shouldnt need it.any kind of vodka?
i will start the search thanks
doing a bit of research.seems the vodka adds organic carbon.which it what the reef octopus bio spheres i have in my reactor does.not sure it would be a good idea to double up or not?
i know when i bought the reactor he said it takes 4-6 weeks for it to grow the bacteria that eats up the nuetriants.its been 8 weeks now .so i dont know what to do.maybe just keep up with the water changes and see what happens.

Joe, in all my years never seen a plate coral like yours, every time I see it I just go Ahhhhh. Is that a common in Florida? Also nice Ducan.
Actually Jack if memory serves me right that plate came from Indonesia I have had it for quite a while it now has multiple mouths which I am informed by BangGuy that multiple mouths are a sign that the coral is getting ready to split as a means of multiplying
That is great, its a great feeling when things multiply (heck or even grow) in our tanks. It's reassuring that we are providing a health environment. By the way I meant common for Florida LFS to stock, because never saw it at any on line stores.
