Looking for that crown jewel fish for my tank.

Hello everyone,

I've slowly been restocking my 90 gallon reef and I'm pretty much at the point with it that I'm looking for that one WOW fish to add to it. I am contemplating a young Australian Harlequin Tusk that if kept well fed, would hopefully not prey upon my inverts (which include a Fire Shrimp) I realized that is a gamble, but so far I've been lucky that my Angel and Flame Hawk never bothered anything. In your opinion, what would be an AWESOME fish that may get along with the following:

Yellowtail Damsel
Red Headed Solon Fairy Wrasse
Royal Gramma
Powder Blue Tang
Naso Tang
Singapore Angel
Flame Hawk

I will probably need another fish so that my stock remains odd in number, so maybe in really in reality I'm looking for one awesome fish and one ok fish to keep the number odd lol!

Thanks in advanced for your ideas!

My suggestion would be to consider the Fairy Wrasse as your centerpiece. I could not, in good conscience, recommend adding another fish to an overstocked tank.

+1. Between the Powder Blue, Naso, and Vermiculated, it's going to get fairly crowded once they reach adult size. The Harlequin is going to eat your shrimp, snails, and anything else that looks like a crustacean. That's what they eat... in addition to fish flesh. Just saying...

Just curious... why are you emphatic about keeping an "odd" number of fish?

Pegasus,

When I first started out I read that by keeping an odd number of fish, the chances of fish fighting are reduced greatly... although I've never had a problem when I had an even amount either... so who know lol

Odd numbers of schooling fish this is common. Chromis, anthias, cardinals ect. Just a mix of other fish? Yea doesn't matter. Not to harp but yes the tangs will get big, odd or even they will be an issue eventually
