Well I still cant get my lion to eat frozen foods so hes probably going to die. I'm sooo confused on wetdrys! The lfs guy just made it very confusinger. I got tons of questions!!
1) how can i get my lion to eat frozens?
2) in the overflow box there are 2 holes, one is where the vacuum hose hooks up too and the other I have absolutly NO CLUE on what hooks up to the hole.
3) I sooo lost on the return hose. The lfs guy said that I have to have all these pipes so that my water out overflow. And the return hose has to be hooked up to pipes.....he lost me there.
4) OVERFLOW!!!!!! <

[hr]
totaly lost on there
5)WHAT PARTS DO I NEED??????????????????????
I thought math class was hard.....this hobby is waaaay more harder

the over flow should only have one hole i think. thats all mine has anyways. Do you have a sump or wet/dry or what? need a lil more info

You have been a member from July 04, over 1200 post and you cant even.....nevermind.
Did you try krill or chunks of squid on a feed stick yet. wiggle it in front of the lion ?
Tons of threads on overflows and hooking up sumps in equipment fourm.

more harder? how are you doing in english, nevermind math. just kidding, ill see what i can do to help
1. order some white shrimp from a well known site run by two doctors. they are nutritious, live, saltwater, and will probably at least get him eating. they are also pretty inexpensive and breed readily. here is what i would try. feed him a live one, then impale one while it is still alive. do not kill it, but make sure that the legs are moving. wiggle it around so he thinks it is live. hopefully, this will get him used to the feeding stick. once he takes that without hesitation (hopefully he will), ry feeding him dead ones. then eventualy try frozen types of foods.
2. i believe the other hose is just to add more flow. i have only seen two holes on larger overflows. if you have a big overflow with a lot of flow, then one little dinky tube will not cut it. and a larger one would probably be too wide to fit. two of them make sure that a larger overflow actualy produces more flow i believe.
3.and i dont even knwo what you are asking here.... its realy a full sentence, so ill try to interpret it. i think you forgot to type a "wont" between out and overflow. you obviously need pipes running back to your tank. the more you have, or if you have a spray bar, the more distributed yoru flow will be throughout your tank. tis a good thing, but if you can clear up what you are asking here im sure youll get a better response.
4. what are you confused about overflows? is it a HOB? you put it on, get the siphone going, and run the hoses down to the sump. what part are you having trouble with?
5. what parts do you have and what are you looking to accomplish? youll need an overflow, your wet-dry. a return pump. the size depends on how big your overflow is. and PVC running from the return back. i guess the main question is, what do you have and what flow are you looking for?

Sorry about my grammer, just in a BIG rush. I will try slowing down.
Fishiness, about what you about the shrimp, I have tried that too....didn't work. And about the overflow having to hole i just dont know what to put in the second hole when the first on is already connected to the wetdry, its almost like theres gotta be another slot in the wetdry for it. And about the return pump, the lfs said i need to drill a hole in a pvc pipe so that it will suck out the air and wont overflow, he confused me BIG time about that.

Overflow boxes with two holes are for more flow. You need to run two pipes to the wet dry and drill a new hole in the wet dry to connect it or put in a bulkhead in the overflow box and plug it. The hole in the return is a anti syphon hole so water does not syphon out the main tank thru the return pipe and flood the sump when there is a power failure or pump stops.

yes with that all you need to do is take a drill bit and drill a small hole about 1/4 inch about the water level thats what i did. and i think i have the same wet/dry as you do. I have changed mine a little bit but its still the same kind

Isn't the hole meant to be just below the water level?? (I'm a newbie too....)

if the hole was below the water level, then water would get sprayed out of it whenever the return pump was on

I am assuming he means if you use PVC running accros the top as a retuen you need to plug the end of the pipe and drill holes for the water to exit...running the return pipe slightly above the surface. The pipe would also run to the return pump. Or, you could use a hose with a spray bar

Better to have the water breaking the surface...IMO

He is having a bad day because the wet dry I gave him that he was so eager to get arrived damaged. I too am sick over it.
Cartman...send me an email ..........we'll either get this one working or I'll get you another. I was the same age as you when I first entered the hobby. My girlfriend was glad I freed up space in the garage.
I promised you a wet dry and a wet dry you shall have.
I'll overlook the fact that you are a bucs fan

back to the lion - I used some live shrimp in a small net relased the shrimp in front of lion he would go for them do this for a few days them a couple of shrimp and maybe a small piece of frozen krill or silver sides, again for a few feedings - cut back on live more frozen I did that with all my lions some were real easy some not so easy ,stay away from stick until thay are eating from the net (don't put net to close to the fish as it will scare it)now mine will swim to top of tank when thay see me walking to the tank. and I just drop the food in.

To tell you the truth, I don't bother reading your posts because you dont bother reading them before you post them. They invented puctuation for a reason. I'm not talking about a few errors, your posts are just impossible to comprehend. READ them before you post them.
