yeah, it would probably be easier to take the lr and inverts out put it in a tub, and leave your fish in the DT. Then do a massive water change. 50% or so

ok so the LR is toast y save it?
Is the sand still good?
I'm gonna attempt a 50% change and remove everything but the fish and sand

To save the tank itself for future inverts, you will have to toss the sand and rock. Add new (while the fish are in the qt would be a good time). The sand and rock soak up copper like a sponge. They will have to go. The tank will be fine after awhile. The silicone will leach small amounts of copper back in. Unless you are keeping hard to keep corals then it will be alright in time. I keep saying "in time" because it will be awhile before you can add any. Do you have a refractometer? You can easily get the rock out of there and just treat the tank with hyposalinity.

Sorry to hear about your lost, but don't give up yet. I will not go into how much money and fish I have lost over time with my tanks doing stuff that I should not be doing but I learn alot and now my tanks are doing real good, you should not give up it will get better. Next time you will know what not to do, good luck in the future.

Next time you have any spikes of Ammonia or Nitrite, get AmQuel + and put it in your tank. It will detoxify the ammonia. You will still have ammonia which is what the bacteria feeds on during the cycle, but it will be harmless to the fish.
Dont give up.

ok not giving up, just have to convince the wife to not get pissed at me for trying again.
So does copper stay in argonite sand?

Sorry but I think that every single poster in this thread thus far has been way off. In all probability, if you followed the appropriate dosage, your fish did not die from the copper treatment.
Personally, I think that your ammonia spike was caused by the piece of lettuce that you had rotting in the tank for 3 days. Assuming that this is consistent with your feeding habits and would routinely leave lettuce in the tank for several days, this is most likely what caused the ammonia.
Sorry for your loss.

I do believe that it was the lettuce also but now in the tank its like a white dust on the glass, it has been getting worse since yesterday.
What can cause this white stuff? looking for all angles

Sorry for your loss.
How much lettuce was it, Unless it was a whole lot of lettuce I doubt that would have crashed your tank.
