Ok. I have actually been there before. I was on a dive trip to Venice Beach (shark tooth capital of the world) and we stopped there. Its nothing like the Georgia Aquarium but still a really nice aquarium. They do have a great lab and research department though and it would be great to know what they come up with. Thanks for sending them an email and I cant wait to see their response. It will be great to know for sure what happens when you add the baking soda, as it seems that the information online is quite contradictory. Again thanks!

I can't stand the Mote guys. I have a friend that is a photographer for the News-Press (local paper) and she went out to take pictures of their Snook count. They used very long nets which killed a dozen or more snook 2 sea turtles, and a few other things. All in the name of science.

I just don't agree with their methods of counting fish. A fish caught on a circle hook has a much better survival rate than a fish caught in a net. I believe that they believe they are doing more good than harm but they don't ever (to my knowledge) tap into using anglers as a method to count fish. I dunno.

When I was there in June, they were talking a lot about their cancer studies on sharks (because sharks are "immune" to getting cancer as far as we know), and the possibility of finding something within the sharks that would help to prevent cancer in humans. That would be great if a cancer preventative was discovered in our own back yard! I am very excited to see what they say about this pH thing, as I tried the study again and came up with the same results. It seems to go down, until the buffer is used in a high concentration, is there a way it could do both (depending on the dose)?

I checked a few aquarium books written by Martin Moe.
He is one of the premier specialists in aquarium keeping.
I have attached what he has written about pH.
He gives instructions for adding sodium bicarb to
aquarium tanks.
