Ok sorry I know I keep posting questions but I am trying to turn my 55 into a reef tank. When i first got my tank I bought like 10 15 lbs of LR and the rest tufa and waiting for it to turn into LR. I think the tufa is bad looking even once it got bact. and turn into basically LR. But anyways I was woundering if anyone knew if it would be bad if I took out a lot of tufa and put in actually LR ...(remember the tufa that is in there now has bact. and crap its been in the tank for over a year.) but would that be something not to do ....Would it mess up the fact that my tank has been cycled already.

If you added a bunch of uncured live rock at the same time it would cause the tank to go into another cycle as the live rock cures. If you add live rock that is already cured it should not cause the tank to cycle. Keep in mind that if you order live rock online and it has to be shipped to you, even if you bought cured live rock it will have some die off due to shipping and will need to be recured once you get it.

Its rock that has been takin out of the ocean and dried out .... its not as hard as LR ....you can buy it at most LFS ....its most like a light orange pinkish type of color.... kinda hard to explain ...but most LFS like I said sell it for salt water tanks.... I might not of spelled it right or said it right for that matter ?? Does that help.....anyways would it be a problem to take it out and put in LR ....?

yeah if you could. but all LR will start a new cycle it is the procces of stuff dying off. If you want add 5lbs a week. but you will have to watch it like a hawk

the first three are all that kind of rock i was talking about i turned one over so you can see what it looks like when it doesnt have something on it ... a little bit of an algae problem going on but its almost solved ...the big rock with some coral frags on it is the real LR....that other rock as been there for about 2 years or 1 and half... it just doenst look as good as real LR ...its still rock just not the big one ya can you see the difference besides some of the algae ???

not sure no ...sorry havent bought a tester yet ....going to within the next few days ...since i am turnin this into a reef tank ... but it should be between 400 and like 420 right ... what I have always been told.... so would you worry about switching out the rock then ....I mean it just doesnt seem to have the same quality.
