What is the recommended magnesium reading in ppm or ml's reef tank. And how can i lower it if its to high

I believe natural SW is 1300-1500, magnesium helps with keeping and maintaining calcium and alkalinity

Calcium is super-saturated in reef aquariums. Magnesium is one of the elements that prevent Calcium from precipitating.

Water change is the best way to lower it.

dace, what test kit are you using? are you adding magnesium?
bang--could mag get that high without dosing?

salifert test kit and i could not get it to change color in test without adding more solution to the seringe

I added mag about 3 months ago but originally i was reading salifert test kit wrong and i thought it was low. In the seringe i was pulling it all the way to the top past 1.0 so it was giving me a low reading, now i know you must stop at 1.0 so i may have added to much mag. I add the total seringe and the color does not change.

then it's definitely over 1500. waterchanges will lower as was stated.
