i really enjoy this show!!! some of the things he does on camera is amazing... and somethings are down right disgusting... but all in the name of teaching one how to survive... he has eaten raw meat, sheeps eyes, live snakes drank water from elephant dung and just recently drank his own urine (well who knows if it wasnt really english tea in that canteen now...lol) he also has put himself in some pretty extreme situations... i will continue to watch and hope this doesnt discourage them from making a 3rd season...

I enjoy the show, but when he rounded up a "wild" horse (in Wyoming? I think) and rode it... that made me very skeptical.

We started watching "suvivorman" where the premise is a guy gets dropped somewhere and has to survive on his own for a week. I think that show is real and pretty good. Then we saw this show where they is talking to the camera man and doing things it seems like just to be gross. I would not be surprised at all that they show is staged.

i like the show but it was a little perculiar when he whitewater rafted using his backpack without getting scratched.

Sorry, but this show is for entertainment purposes. Not to learn how to survive. The stunts he pulls in order to "survive" are just that - stunts. You don't need to climb a waterfall in a rainforest, you don't need to raft down a river with only a backpack (which he actually did with a concealed life jacket), and you don't need to eat animals that are still alive.
These things are all done for ratings and some shock value. This show does not teach you how to stay alive. If you were in a cold area like Alaska, you probably wouldn't want to try swimming (the dude can't stay away from water, usually when he should), and it's not necessary to lasso a "wild horse" should you "find" one.
However, it's a fun show to watch. Just don't be misled into thinking it's all real and educational. Turn to Survivorman for a more realistic (albeit somewhat less entertaining) show.

I don't care if it is real or fake, it is very entertaining to watch and I love it when he parachutes, the one in kenya from the hot air balloon is my favorite.

My question is how is he filming all this? There is a camera man following him around and must be doing all the same stuff he is doing. He can't be filming it himself so someone is there with him from start to finish. Are they surviving like him or are they holding up their cold beer and sandwich while he's eating some disgusting raw rodent?

Who knows. BBC is based in England and like all British media, they always like to hype up things whether they'es fake or not. Look at their tabloid paper, The Mirror. Granted, BBC is a legit company but it all depends on their reporter. BBC does produce tons of eductional films for schools and such.
I've watched that show a couple time briefly but never can get into it.

I like Survivor man better. This guy always has a camera crew there to help him.
Not the survivor man he is doing all his own filming, Bear makes me mad! LOL

As a horse person for 18 years, to ride a wild horse the first day you find him is impossible.

There would be no way for him to even get near it unless it was tame and someone's farm animal! LMAO

This show definitely seems to be staged. He is out there with a camera crew who are definitely NOT just "surviving" like he is supposed to be doing. Les Stroud from Survivorman is way more realistic.
