All of my pairs breed on a regular schedule, and i have posted about it on here before
Males have a very long dorsal spine, and while the females do not. It looks like cjml's mandarin is a male, while My Way's is a female.

I did not expect to have a dragonet, either. Both surprised me greatly!
My 12 yr old spied ours at my favorite LFS about 4 weeks ago. We have been going back weekly. My initial response is, "I don't care for rock dwellers".
Hmph. I just hate it when I'm so wrong.
BTW. I'm trying to get the little rascal to pose for another photo op. She's not shy, but just get out the camera, and she mosies on back behind the rock..

Are there captive bred vs wild caught mandarinfish?

She's in your 125?
BTW, apparently my photo skills aren't great, either. I even got a "thumbs down".

I took my pic through a magnifying glass with an old Olympus 1.3 MP. Ive dropped it so many times it now shows that green line in it. I want a new camera, only every time I have some extra money, some fool has to have some nice Zoa's for sale:thinking:eek:f course the camera money then becomes coral money! :hilarious Wait till your fish is at the front of the tank to take the pic

Sounds like amphiopods.

I want in the Mandrin bunch!!!! Her is a pic of Hendrix (I know she is a girl). I have had her for about a month now. I added 4 bottles of pods to fuge and display. I also have 1 bottle I have used to start culturing.

Out of curiosity, what did your Mandarins cost? Mine was $20, she is about 1.5". I thought that was a good price.

What a chunky little girl! Very retro name, it's great! What size tank? And fuge?

Mine was just 14 and change, but she's "just" a green.

I paid $20 for mine, average of what I see, so $15 is a good deal! I'm hoping to find a female soon to put in with my male.

I went to my favorite lfs yesterday to look for one, but all they had were males. Unfortuneately, I did leave with a pair of scissortail dartfish. I get in so much trouble cause of this hobby.

I'm upgrading my 30 to a 60 and have a 25gal sump w/ fuge, and 75lbs of LR, 40lbs of LS. My wife really wants to get a mandarin and I was wondering if adding a bottle of the pods would make it so I can add mandarin in say around the holidays. The 30 was about 6 months old when I transfered into my 60.
Other tank mates include:
2 Black perc
1 Bicolor
1 purple firefish
2 skunk cleaners
2 sally lightfoots
1 blood red cleaner
1 brittle seastar
a host of featherdusters newly aquired from 1 peice of LR I bought (I counted like 8 on a single peice of rock). Also got macro algea (looks like a cactus w/out the spines) and what looks like a christmas tree worm. <--- AWESOME!!!
