Mantis gone wild

The first pic is of my mantis tank as it has been for the longest time. The second pic is what is the result of two days of my mantis going wild and moving the substratum into a corner of the tank. I am wondering if she has become breading age and she is genetically programed to do this

Lois,
I think you need to add "always keep the high-pitched maraca in your left hand" to your signature...

I wonder? Is my mantis piling up things in the corner of the tank so she can just walk out of it? Clever girl

Sounds like your peacock is simply rearraging his digs. Ours was constantly busy with "improvements", so every so often, we'd drop in a few bits of rubble or some shells. It blew me away to see him using his antennal scales as oars to move heavy pieces. Ours had a mussel valve it used as a "door", and it would prop it up to the side of the opening to its lair so it was within easy reach.
Monsinour,
Yes, they will rebuild, but not necessarily the same way. We knew someone at one of our LFS that would scatter his peacock's lair just to see it rebuild.

I want one SOOO bad! I've got the perfect tank too, an old DAS 75g with like 3/8 thick glass. I'll have one before the end of this year. Thanks for sharing the pics, I'm ready to order one.

Very awesome, Joe! I'm still gonna get one, eventually! Everytime I free up the tank I set up for one, I end up with another "enexpected" fish!
Anyway, I'm glad to see Lola is doing well! Great job!
