envy of the world?? i dont know the statistics but id bet we are NOT the envy of the world
Name another country that has a million+ illegal immigrants pouring into it every year...
Travel to Eastern Europe and Africa and see what language the wealthy families are paying to teach their kids...
We are, despite what the media tells you, still the envy of the world.

"They" hate because of jealousy.... and btw, where are you getting this idea the world hates us? Sure, there are groups out there that hate us. Obviously radical islamics hate us for allowing women freedoms (like using the internet, going out in public unveiled, etc.). Communists in the Eastern block countries hate us for bringing the downfall of the Soviet Empire (I've talked a few "old guard". They really do hate us). Countries like Venzuela have populations that hate us because their State run media churns out Anti-American rhetoric 24 hours a day.
I've have the privilege to travel to 3 different continents in the past 5 years. Didn't see a lot of "we hate America" going on.
Our movies, restaurants, currency, music etc. are found, and often highly sought out, all over the world. Tourists come from all over the world. As I pointed out, illegals come from all over the world. Our Universities are flooded with applicants from all over the world. Again as I pointed out, English speaking is desired all over the world.

You ever been out of the country, I have.
Currently there are about 35 million legal immigrants in the United States and another 12 to 20 million here illegally as well as a backlog of those wishing to immigrate here. You suppose they want to come here cause they hate us so much?

The excuse that pot is a "gateway" drug is outdated. It is up to the person on what decisions they make, don't blame marijuana. The people I know who have progressed to harder drugs are all very weak minded people. So if I drink 2 beers when I get home Im an alcholic? Where are the guidlines and who sets them?
The true gateway drug is alcohol. Kids smoke pot because it is easier to get than something that is legal and must be of certain age to purchase. So why not do to marijuana? Do you know how much money could be created from this? Endless amounts. It would be the same thing as beer, there would be "micro-brews" of type for marijuana along with different potencies.
I know executives, lawers, and CEO's who smoke and don't drink at all. I don't see a difference from coming home and having a few beers and lighting up. This isn't something they do everyday but do every so often.

I just came back from Australia and people do hate us but most of them love us too. But with that being said, every single one of their newspapers (not tabloids) had news about the US and our "celebrities". Kids at my sisters school where she was teaching thought everywhere in the US was like Hollywood. And if someone is going to hate me because of our elected president(who is obviously an idiot) then so be it. That is like me hating them because there are so many kangaroos. Form an opinion of me after you have a conversation with me, not on what you read in your newspapers about us. To me people like that are close minded people and probably someone I wouldn't want to converse with anyway.
Personally I blame MTV for all of this. It is the downfall of this country and always will be, wanna talk about addiction? How about people who buy magazines, and watch shows about celebs. Now that is a pathetic addiction!!

I am the same way...I have been to Europe, Asia and AUS in the past 7..Im like you, I havent seen hordes of ppl jockeying to spit in my face...Most of what I saw is if you have US dollars you goto the front of the line...and its cheaper then most would pay...
Always remember...If the news tells you that people hate America...The % that actually do is maybe at best 10%

Yep, the world does not hate us. They envy us quite a bit. I have spoken to quite a few people from England, Ireland, France, Italy, and China and not one of them expressed dislike for Americans. However, if you carry around an attitude like the one it seems you have, you may give Americans a bad reputation.

Perhaps you guys could create your own topic on the love/hate of Americans.

This is is an incredibly interesting topic that shows how effective the anit-MJ mentality has survived this long and how it's portrayed smokers or bongers as dregs of society
I'm a business professional, during my years I've come across many and I do mean MANY other business professionals that enjoy pot, most are well respected and highly functional with a keen sense of who they are and what they want to accomplish in life, I'm talking MD's, Bankers, Lawyers, Sales people, business owners, Property owners and investors etc....
Point is that all these people if viewed by the stereotyplical image of pot smokers would be classified as users and worthless to society, while the truth is that most of them are successful and offer incredible benefits to society, yet they hide behind closed doors

Yeah, everyone just needs to smoke a bowl and "mellow out"

I tried pot in my youth, didn't care for getting high. Now that I am a worldy crippled ol fart I was thinking about trying it for pain relief. To use the medical option available in this state I have to pay 95 bux per year for the permit and then I have to mail order seeds from Canada and grow my own. Hell the federal beef for mailing the seeds is probably worse that getting caught buying the finished product

Just happened to have watch a show today showing videos of train wrecks. One was caused when the engineer ignored two different signals and pulled a freight train in front of an Amtrak train. The guy had been toking. Some times not giving a crap about the small things matters.

i think ignoring two signals when your job is to operate a train is more then "the small things". thats called being iresponsible

I counter you with a major ecological disaster vs train wreck.....Joseph Hazelwood of the Exxon Valdez was hung over, not buzzed

should you be allowed to smoke it in public? absolutely not.
do I endorse marijuana? no, I think it's a dumb drug and the people who smoke it regularly are about 3 IQ points away from being retarded.

Nice one
