its always reccomended to have at least 10-12 gallons for 2 clownfish but I would never have to differant ones you need to keep 2 of the same species
but 20 gallons and up is even more optimal
but others may have differant suggestions

I looked at you profile it said that you already had a 12 gallon and if you are ready for an upgrade I would say go as big as you can because from my exprience and with my friends we are always upgrading.big bigger bigggger
I wish I could go bigger now but the time is just not right being that i'm going to be selling my house in the spring.

If you are going to have 2 maroons then I would not put them in anything less then a 45 gallon tank. I have read that some people have been able to keep a regular maroon and a gold stripe but you should introduce then to the tank together. I know they can mate because I have a maroon whose stripes are partially gold.

gotta disagree... you're sayin for 2 6" fish a 20??
and i wouldn't go with a goldstripe and a normal... probably wouldn't work.
i'd say MAYBE a 30 would work... a 40 would be better.
PROS: nice looking, hardy
CONS: mean as hell, get territorial if they have an anemone

Since like all the rest of us you'll most likey want to add more fish and animals later I'd opt for a 90 Gallon tank. that'll put in the safety zone for maroons of course and you can add a lot more - even a hippo or purple tank just to mention some really cool fishes that work really well with Maroon clowns

that makes no sense..."whats that you have a 20?... ohwell go buy a new tank?" no... the answer would be getting a pair of percs instead or maroons...

Lots of opinions
from 20 to 90, wow. I'll go even higher 100 gallon....
no no make that 125

Just kidding

Just don't go small and later realize you want to add more fish and can't.
