Massive crap going on...

Sorry for the lack of activity guys.
I have been ill and stayed away from the computer for a bit.
(Lois, Jeff and Phil, I apologize)
Lot has happened since my last time here,
my wife is venturing out on a new job. (Excited for her because more stuff she does, easier it will be for her to cope)
I'm recovering slowly but surely
Gold purchasing business has been booming. (excellent word of mouth has kept me busy)
Now my tank on the other hand, is taking a huge dump...
Only thing that I have done differently since last time was changing the RO water from different pet store.
All the parameters are fine.
salt. 1.027
ph 8.2
nitrite, trate 0
calcium 460
alk - 15 (I know this is bit high... I'm doing a water change tonight)
Nothing new has been added and my fish have
ick, valvet (looks like), clown looks like it has lymph and purple tang's hlle has gotten CRAZY worse...
Corals looks like crap and red brain coral seems to be bleaching...
I have done 20% water change. (planning to lower the salinity little by little)
Applying lower dosage of quick cure (1/2 dosage at night)
Removed carbon
put a polyfilter (in the morning til light off)
Any thoughts? Do you think that something has gone with that RO water system? Place is brand new so I don't understand what's with this problem...

I hope you are feeling better.
I would expect a waterchemistry problem with the tank. Since the "only change" is the place where you obtain the water, and it is a new place, it may be something that has changed rapidly in your system and the critters are suffering for it. It could be something you don't even check for. Or maybe an old batch of salt mix you are using that has been contaminated somehow. Or something with the air "quality" in your home like painting, cleaning solutions etc. etc.

hey spanko - thanks for the input.
Salt was brand new from coral life from 1 week and a half ago and we don't use chemicals for house cleaning. (wife uses vinegar)
painting was done 3 years ago.
I really don't know and kinda stomped on the RO... it's weird i know... but I haven't added anything in a while.
I'm going to feed my fish the anti parasitic medicated food from Dr G today...
They are still eating like champs so that's a positive thing from this..
very stressful.

well its good they are still eating...sounds like u need a hospital tank or big bin going!
Do u use garlic? Maybe mash some fresh garlic up with the food for a couple days!
Do u have a tds meter? They can be obtained for relatively cheap!
Sounds like u guys are doing better...keep ur heads up!

1guy - Garlic, will try that tonight. Thanks for the input!
TDS meter huh? How does one work those? What reading should RO water have? Can I test my salt water with that or no?

no saltwater unfortunalty...
u can test tap and ro and ro/di!
tap around here runs 70-100ppm
ro should be between 1-3ppm
ro/di should always read 0ppm if it reads 1 or 2 than a filter or a membrane or ur di needs replacing!

I doubt RO water is going to introduce the issues, assuming that it was RO water... Although added stress from sources can make them susceptible to disease. That being said, if you got ich, you need to hypo them. It works every time, (if he can survive the ich for a few weeks) as for the other stuff, remember MOST medications do not mix well with coral. An QT tank is an absolute must imo. These communal tanks they come in are giant cesspools of disease... And in turn get introduced into your tank....
btw what is this about gold buying?

ANTI-PARASITIC FOOD????
I am SOOOOO sorry you are going thru this too :( I just lost everything (but 1 fish) in my 54G due to ich......I just set up a QT, and I am beginning hypo for this one fish
the DT will remain fishless for 6 weeks also.......I strongly suggest you think about doing this....REMEMBER it is possible to have ich in your system and not see it....one stressful event or large change in parameters can bring it out
I hope your wife does well....a job out of the home does wonders....keeping your mind busy, scenery changes, interactions with others.....best medicine IMO

There is a lady called the puffer queen on a RC she used to use an even different site, with even less traffic than this one has now. Any way she is really knowledgeable about parasites...

I laughed out loud at the "puffer lady", brought to mind a few old jokes better left untold here.

Hey guys, thanks everyone for their inputs.
streb, I have a jewelry business and run small refinery so I buy gold from local people and people that I know out of state.
It has been very good to me this year despite all of my personal issues. I laughed at the puffer lady as well.
1dude - QT is going to be set up tomorrow when I'm off. My last one, my boy broke it when he was still here. :/
definitely will look into the RO quality checker! ordered one from amazon and I hope to get it by end of this week.
Appreciate your thorough input.
Lois - Hey there! Thank you so much for the support. It's rough watching my fish and coral suffer... my red brain is almost dead now hopefully I can figure this out before it wipes out everything... yea I pushed her to work, I didn't initially do this before but I feel like it's not doing her any good. With her mind occupied and motivation to move forward, I believe we can move a step forward to a recovery. We have been also very active these days and being involved in our community and church. (Phil's idea) Away from computers and avoiding work at home and more time talking, sleeping and nourishing my health.
hey Keith - yea, I found out that it was a faulty test on ALK and it was at 15 not triple the amount and I can't seem to bring it down unless I lower the ph and everything else... I'm going to try another water change today. Water chemistry hasn't really changed any and I'm just baffled at the moment. That's why I was suspecting the RO was the issue even though it's unlikely...
Thanks again guys, I will try little bit of everything today!

So did massive overhaul yesterday.
Did a 10% water change. (going to do another change tonight I know it's more work but I'm not a believer of big environmental changes.)
Found out my ozone was broke and the air pump that pushed air from ozone to the skimmer had broke as well so replaced the pump and fixed the ozone.
found out that my light cycle was off and my metal halides weren't coming on at all and fixed that. (issue with the ballista and had to solder few wires to make it work again)
Replaced all the cotton filters in my sump, cleaned the skimmer, tested the water 0,0,0, 8.2ph alk 15, calcium 460, salt 1.027
Tested the RO and found out that I have been dumping near tap water into my tank. Called the store and of course they take forever to respond and deny of any wrong doing etc etc.
put poly filter in my tank for 12 hours prior to formalin treatment (quick cure). (I went to wal mart for a HUGE bins but ones that I want won't fit in my car..)
pretty pissed and pretty tired right now..
I really don't need this right now and watching my clown trigger suffer is killing me... (he was my son's favorite..)

Sorry for the double post but does anyone here familiar with Dr G's anti bacterial food formula?
I can't even get my triggers to eat that stuff for some odd reason...
Here is the link to the food. (I got it for free from a friend who owns lfs)

Try soaking the food in fresh pressed garlic. This might entice him to eat. Sorry to hear about everything that you have going on.
