This morning when i awoke all my fish (Yellow tang, mated perc's) were dead. My damsel still alive but looks terrible. My coral look ok, my crabs, shrimp, snails, urchin are doing fine. My carpet and condi aneomes are doing well also. I tested water samples this morning just as I did last night. all are good: sal 1.025, pH 8.2, Ca 425, NH4 0, NO3 0, i dont test for PO4. The only thing different that I did different is that last night I started using Sally Jo reef receipt last night as a birthday present from my wife. Any ideas what could have gone so wrong?

Do you or have you seen any white specks or blotches on them, sometimes they only show in the mornig or at night. What are the symtoms of the remaining fish? It sounds like they may have a disease if all of your reading are correct. And what is Sally Jo reef receipt?

The only thing I can think of that would kill fish very fast and leave corals unaffected would be some type of poison.
A filter feeding cucumber death could do that but I didn't see cukes in your list.
What's Sally Jo?

Sally Jo is from GARF.COM. She has a receipt of ading seachem to the reef to assist the corals. I have notice no white spots on the fish. The lone damsels was at the surface of the water and looked like it was struggling for O2. The fish ate well last night also. So nothing looked out of the normal when the lights went off last night. I have also email Sally Jo at garf asking for help. If I get a respoinse I will post it.

I use seachem products and follow GARF's system mainly, and have NEVER seen "reef receipt" What exactly does it say on the bottle? Did you add it as a powder? (I assume) DIRECTLY TO THE WATER? If so that can do it, most Sea Chem products, powders, should be disolved in topoff water or whatever prior to adding to the tank...HTH

I *think* the word in question "reciept" is possibly "recipe", I think Sally Jo at Garf has a "recipe" of reef additives she uses in her tanks.
Just a thought,
Paul
